Folks appreciate any feedback about this bike especially from owners of the 09 and 10 models.
Hearing all sorts of info some bad and some good.

New 2011 Spec's are:
TE 310

The new TE 310 boasts the lightest engine in the 250 cc 4-stroke category (22 kg), boosted to 302.44 cc, thanks to an increase in bore and stroke, now 82 x 57.3 mm.

The throttle body is the same as that on the TC 250 - a Mikuni 45 mm diameter. The exhaust system is specially designed for the 310 model and as in the other models has a new heat protection on the silencer. The bike is much lighter than the previous version (-6 kg) and comes with significantly higher torque and power.

Otherwise the bike has the same features as the TE 250, with the new reinforced chassis, new Grimeca hubs, Kayaba 48 mm front forks and Sachs shock absorber with new settings, 8.5 litre fuel tank, new hand guards and new bodywork graphics.

CHANGES TE 250, TE 310 AND TC 250 MODELS

    * NEW CHASSIS, REDESIGNED AND REINFORCED
    * NEW HUBS
    * NEW GRAPHICS
    * NEW ENGINE GUARDS
    * WATERPROOF SPARK PLUG COVER
    * NEW EXHAUST PIPE HEAT PROTECTOR
    * ENGINE CRANK-CASE WITH STEEL CHASSIS SOCKETS

TE 310 ONLY (NEW BIKE)

    * NEW ENGINE
    * NEW FRAME ( AS TE250)
    * NEW   CDI  WITH 2 MAPS SELECTABLE FROM A SWITCH ON THE HANDLEBAR
    * KG.106 WITHOUT FUEL

Brad is this the new Beemer/ Husky you're talking about, if it is it's gotta be good, just jump in at the deep end.

Brad the 2011 TE310 is going to be an awesome bike, as you know it has the new smaller motor that is 6kg's lighter than the 2010 TE310 motor and it will have more power and torgue than the 2009/2010 bikes due to a bigger bore and a longer stroke.

The biggest plus for the 310 is that it now comes with Kayaba forks as the 50mm Marzocchi's on the older bikes are renowned for going through fork seals, and fuel capacity has gone to 8.5 litres up from 7.2 on the older bikes.

In my opinion and for the way that i ride and the type of riding that i like to do the TE310 is the perfect capacity bike, it has the handling of a 250 in the tight stuff and power to run with the bigger bikes in the more open and flowing stuff.
Brad if you were to purchase a 2011 TE310 i don't think you would be disappointed.
I ordered a 2011 TE310 the other day, which should be here in early December, if you want you can have a ride on that bike to see what you think.

Maintenance intervals for the 09/10 TE310's are a little better than the WR250f.
If my memory serves me correctly, oil changes/valve checks on the WR250f as per the manual are every 500km's.
The Husqvarna manual has oil changes and valve checks at 800 km's. I dont know about the 2011 TE310 but i think they are the same as the WR250f as the oil capacity on the 2011 TE310 is .9 litres.
I do oil changes every 400 km's and valve checks as per the manual and have never had a problem.

They are around the $11,800 mark and i get my huskys from First Class Motorcycles in Lilydale, it will be the 3rd husky i've bought from them, if your interested in one, go and see them and tell them that i sent you and they'll take care of you, otherwise i think Seaford is the closest dealer to you.
First class in lilydale should be getting their demo 2011 TE310 this week if you want to book a test ride on one.

WR's are great bikes, But its nothing special...

There almost boring to ride after a few years of riding one it all seams so point and shoot no effort required...

Mine did 9,000 Km never had a problem with it

I had a 2 ktm's before the wr i just got sick of bouncing of rock's

I agree with Nathan it is the perfect capacity bike going around unless you are into real big bores .

It took me ages to decide , I knew it was gunna be a husky but I could not decide on the 310 of the 250 two stroke and you know which way i went and love it.

With thE KYB front and lighter engine you cant go wrong.

GO THE HUSKY ....

Dumb question if a fuel injected bike won't start on a dead battery but has a kick starter will it go or is the battery required to power the fuel injection etc....

Its interesting that on most other forums around the planet many people are moving from 250's to the 310 with quite a few coming off WR250's.
The WR needs another gear for top end speed to keep up with the bigger bikes and a little more poke for a slightly wider power band. The Yamaha has been super reliable setting an expectation benchmark for the next bike. The next one should have fuel injection so the other choice may be the KTM350 if they ever make an enduro version.
