I suppose this means the previous posts about larger fuel tank between your legs and extra weight are a thing of the past! Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Ian Robinson on December 16, 2010, 10,30:24 AM Peter,
I don't like your new Husaberg extra fuel tanks, my preference is for small tanks. Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on February 25, 2011, 10,15:05 AM I fitted the Sub Frame Fuel Tank and i'm very happy with the Fit and the Installation Manual. You loose the Rear grab handle area , but i like to ride the Bike not lift it outta Bog Holes. I started installing the 110 Decibels Air Horns for the HCR today, but having trouble finding a good place for the Control Relay. John T will be installing a MP3 Player, Amp and Bar mounted motorbike Speakers, so when we stop to fix a Muppet's Flat tyre, we will have the Music Cranking, "should turn some Heads".
The only other project for our HCR Supercheap Auto Tent, will be a Fully functional Split System Airconditioner,5.0kw Cool/Heat, which is well under way, fully mobile and will plug into a 10A Socket, this should go well in the Taj Mahal with it's rope lighting and in house projection Cinema. THE BASTARD LEAKS LIKE A SIEVE !!! I have emailed 70 Degree about where the Tank Leaks, and hopefully something will be done. Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on February 27, 2011, 03,11:52 AM See the little brown marks just below the Black coupling and the Steel Hose Clamp, the Tank in that spot is like 2 pieces of Glad Wrap and has Pin holes in it.

Question: Who does Plastic Welding !!!! Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: nathanstott on March 02, 2011, 06,57:29 AM Question: Who does Plastic Welding !!!! Answer: A Plastic Welder!!!! Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Willbar on March 02, 2011, 07,07:10 AM I can do it, but not sure how it would go with a petrol tank, the petrol may be stronger than the solvent which I use and cause it to leak. Could be embarrassing 4 u. Will
Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Al.C on March 02, 2011, 07,41:59 AM Yes you can get your tank fixed I've had two tanks repaired by plastic welders, with no complaints or leaks. not sure were you would go in Melb though as the first of mine was done in Darwin and the second here in Wodonga.
Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Willbar on March 02, 2011, 08,20:56 AM Pedro find a good quality sealant which is petrol proof and seal it up with that. do some research on the net first. Will

Question: Anyone want to buy a fe 390/450/570 Sub Tank. Asking price $250.00 Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: DarrenD on March 02, 2011, 10,25:48 AM You trying to profit from your so called mates now?
I'll give you a $100 for it. Then I only need to get a 570 and i'm done Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on March 02, 2011, 10,28:09 AM You trying to profit from your so called mates now? Sorry so called "MATE", but your offer is a bit Low!!I'll give you a $100 for it. Then I only need to get a 570 and i'm done Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on March 20, 2011, 09,37:00 AM After working this morning, i decided to Fit the New Sub Tank, all went well and i even prepared the bike for the HCR.
I decided NOT to connect the Two Tanks together as this turns the Bike into one long Fuel Tank. So if i need to use the sub Tank, i will carry some hose to syphon from the Sub Tank to the Main Tank, it seems a better idea to me. But i'm looking at installing a Tiny Fuel Solenoid between the two Tanks, so i can isolate the Sub Tank. "Even Better" Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Willbar on March 20, 2011, 09,44:31 AM I think just join them both together, does not mean you have to fill her up, just put in what you need for your ride, saves the hassle of draining from one to the other etc. Will
Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on March 20, 2011, 10,00:56 AM But joining then will effect my aggressive riding style and Mono hold up ability, not to mention the Legs up Mono's.

Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Tim Dykes on March 20, 2011, 10,07:12 AM Isn't the sub tank lower than the main tank? If you just joined them together the fuel would flow from the main tank and out the vent of the sub tank.

If you just joined them together the fuel would flow from the main tank and out the vent of the sub tank. Good thinking Tim, BUT the Sub Breather runs back to a T piece just ubove the Main filler cap!!!Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Wiggy on March 20, 2011, 10,27:53 PM I've got a sub frame tank on my Berg and having them connected together works fine without any noticeable effect on bike handling characteristics. Only downside I've found so far is filling the bike with fuel is slower.
Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Ken R on March 23, 2011, 09,22:36 AM They must have the same guy designing these things as they did for the 2000 FE400 sub tank.
The one I fitted had a sealed filler cap and needed a vent to be up above the main tank. I had a tap between the sub and a 'T' piece to the carb. The last 100ml in the sub would not drain unless the bike was pointing down hill. (A cunning reserve maybe?) I remember climbing the big hill to the lookout over Bright and having to do a couple of 'U' turns to refill the float bowl. Another memory from a great 2 day with Alan White - does anybody remember Big Al? where is he???? Title: Re: Husaberg Fe Sub Frame Tank Post by: Peter r on April 17, 2011, 12,51:50 AM Subframe Fuel Tank review:
Fitted the Subframe tank before the 2011 HCR event so i could see if it changed the feel of the bike, i didn't connect the 2 together, just took a piece of 1/4" hose to fill the Main Tank. I filled both tanks and took off from Abbeyard in a blaze of Glory at around 7.15am to do the Pre Sweep. I didn't even notice it was there until the 132k mark, when i ran outta fuel from the main tank, so i refilled the main tank with the 1/4' hose and all was good. So now i'm connecting the 2 together and leaving it alone. Only Modification was to screw up the Rear shock spring by one turn. Pros: Extra 4 Ltrs. Doesn't change the look or the shape of the bike. Doesn't change the feel of the bike. Fits perfectly. Easy to fill as it has it's own filler cap. Cons: Mobile fuel tanker for other riders!!! |
