Well today is the big day!  Pick up a new DRZ400e this afternoon and CAN'T WAIT!!! Converting from a BMW650Dakar simply because it is heavy and just boring (it did take me all around the country though...).  So.. looking forward to getting involved with AMTRA and getting onto some rides ASAP - if only you will have me in a shiny new motor with the remnants of road/touring gear...

I'm interested to know the rating scheme used for the various ride difficulties - can someone point me in the right direction (can't find it on the site)?

Most riders with some riding expereince start on level 2 rides.Start here on move on to clubman. Also keep an eye out for level 1 rides as these tend to be more of an instructional ride, for people who have not riden on dirt before.

Thanks guys - looking forward to a Maryville ride - just need to get the thing run in - that is probably the only thing I didn't really consider when I went through the one million considerations for going new vs second hand...  Of well - part of the fun i suppose.

Looking forward to riding with you guys...

The running in period is no big problem,by my manual, was 2 hours of riding, varying the speed and revs,it is very easy to get 2 hours up riding,i thought i had been riding for 1 hour when i ran my bike in,but after checking the time,i had been riding for bit over 3 hours........As the old saying goes, time flys when your having fun.......Ill be doing the next amtra ride at marysville, which is on the sunday 9th November by memory, level 1,2,get along grantro if you can,and enjoy the day.........
Cheers.......

Granto,
I will be heading up to Marysville tomorrow, see you there.
Weather looks perfect nice breeze and warming up to 24 they say! The rain will keep the dust down for a while.
I ride one of those blue machines but the way bike are coloured now days that comment may need to change in the future.

P.S. Did your new bike come with off road tyres or the road legal looking version of off road?  Some of the tracks at Marysville can be slippery and good off road tyres are the best option.

Rgds,

Brad
