Its been a few weeks, but i will finally get my new 08 Husky,TE450 bike this week.....10 years or more since ive hit the bush, and actually having a brand new bike,i was hoping i could get some good areas close to cranbourne, where i could do my first few rides, and get comfortable with the bike, before i do my rides with AMTRA...Hopeing somewhere ,not to far,and where i can pick a few very easy tracks to begin with..Will be going and getting some maps as well this week,so any maps that you can reccomend, and noteing where unloading areas are, would be great..........Thanks for any replies....... Cheers........

Like Dave said the Neerim area is probably your best bet from Cranbourne, Bunyip State Park is west of there. A sizable state forest that is close by is where you should aim for, try and stay away from houses. Just do a few short rides from where you parked your car and build on your knowledge. It will also let the new bike heat cycle if you have a break when you get back to the car. If you go out by yourself be very careful of others out there, assume they are all crazy, and keep left. Let some know where you are and what time you'll be back. Here is a bit more info on trail riding in Bunyip from Parks Victoria:- http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources05/05_1725.pdf

Can you imagine how much of our 'safety levy' has gone into sending every registered bike a new label that says 'LAMS'?
Why not wait till the rego is due, or until the bike is sold and transfered to a new owner?
That's what's stupid!

First ride was at bunyip today, with some directions from Tim,it got myself and mate on to forrest rd,and once in the bush,we found the unloading area.....The day was spent mainly running the bike in,and just enjoying the day it was..We clocked up around 70klm for the day......Very impressed with the bike, and looking forward to hittin the bush reel soon........Thanks for the directions Tim,much appreciated.......
