Haven't you got better things to worry about than dirt bikes Row?

He's got a big weekend ahead of him as he's a starter in one of the classes supporting the superbike this weekend down at Phillip Island.

Good luck down there Rowan :)

I would suggest for you Rowi a new Berg 350. Clarky seemed very impressed with his on Sunday in the black range. But more importantly it comes all blinged up from the factory just the way you like them.

If you want to ride around on the titanic get a new wr450.
I agree with Al, Clarkys new sled was pretty nice!
If your after a 450, have a look at the 449 Huskys, thay are rock solid machines, mine has been the best bike i've ever owned and they absolutley rip in the desert! and you can get a great deal on a runout 2012 model at the moment.

Good luck at the Island Row

I'm interested in this 'too heavy' statement!

I remember when having a bike under 130kg was considered light.  I'm sure there are oths who will remember when bikes were even heavier.

I don't know how heavy the new WR 450's are, but if weight is such an issue, lose some from around your gut or take a dump before you ride.  You don't have to carry the bike, so I don't understand why weight is such as issue!

Row, you know the Yamaha will be a rock solid, reliable unit, probably the only Japanese bike worth looking.  Having said that, I agree that there are some great Euro bikes out there, and the boys who have posted here know what they are talking about.  Their opinions are worth noting.

But, I just can't get my head around this obsession with weight!

I was all for the wr as the $ seemed right, now you scared me with weight..
I dont remember them feeling that heavy to ride.
I assume the burg is priced like the ktm350 or more so that  gets rid of that option.

Im racing both sat and sunday, thanks for the words of encouragement and ill try to bring her home in one piece. #30 in Aus supersport if anyones heading down.

It the tight single trails that rowan loves riding a wrf450 will be heavy, it ride a 250exc and its unreal in single trail but sometimes a bit uncomfortable in the high country, iv just recently rode Matts 07wrf450 in 70 odd kms of single trail in the black range i was was absolutely spent afterwards compared to a day on me ktm, even though the bike weighs 130 wet the weight is apparently up high and i can feel the big motor working against me in corners. But as serge has said its a seriously rock solid reliable machine.

its all about personal choice but id deffs stick to the euro bikes much better and sexier components ;)

I was with you till this comment. What is "deffs stick"?  Is it like an ugly stick?   Can I get a blue one for my WR?

I remember a guy called Shane Roberts.  He used to punt an old XR400 around in enduro races.  Everyone laughed at him, untill the race started!  An old, " heavy" pig like that, and he blitzed!

You're all too soft!  Get the bike you want and make it work for you!

And, I remember Big Al and Big Willie.  What they couldn't do on an XR6 wasn't worth doing!

Do you think weight bothered those guys?  And I can assure you that 'sexiness' was never entered into!

Both big boys Serge and could throw those bikes around no worries, as they would be heavy enough not to notice the weight of the bike. That rider and bike comparison is comparable to you on a 125 ;D

I've ridden my 449 and 310 on the same tracks and as i like tight, technical tracks the 310 is much easier to ride and handle than the 449 and i'm much faster on the lighter bike because it's easier for me to man handle, but then when i get out in the open when riding my 310 i wish i was on my 449.

All bikes have there positives and negatives it's about thinking about the majority of riding you like to do and will be doing most of the time and being able to live with it when your riding something different to what you usually do.

I agree with getting a bike you like and make it work for you, but just have a good think about which bike you are going to be able to work for you the best

I can't argue with your logic, Nath.

Two bikes, same track, same rider....you would have to notice a difference.  But you are in a luxurious position of being able to have more than one mount.

For those who have to settle on just one bike to do everything, I'm not sure that weight (or sexiness) is the best criteria!

Most blokes select a woman using that criteria so why not a bike!! ;D

Now i think i'd better head for the hills!! :o

Rowen your a very busy boy - what you need is a fully sorted Kato 450 to just jump on and go with a box full of bling and bits - I can help you ;)

Have a ball at the Island and I hope I don't have to blue flag you too many times ;D ;D
