As many things that involve real human interaction as possible. That way you increase your odds of someone signing up here who really WANTS to sign up and participate, rather than some reject spammer account. The more hoops to jump through the better IMO. Thanks for doing a bit of research on the dreaded spam. We do have to upgrade our sign up proceduers. When we first got this site up we new it would propably become a problem down the track and that point has arrived. We will get on top of it.
