Found this on the DSMRA Web site.
Who has a problem with this??? Cos i'm gunna change ours, like it or not??

 LEVEL 1, Easy

An easier dirt bike ride of mostly open fire trails for those with little or no dirt bike riding experience. May include a few obstacles but assistance will be provided if required.

LEVEL 2, Bit Harder

Moderate trail ride for those with some trail riding experience. Possibly some tricky sections and natural obstacles.

LEVEL 3, General

General trail ride for the competent rider with a well-maintained bike. May include single track, obstacles, river crossings, harder hills etc. Carry all your own equipment and have your bike well prepared.

LEVEL 4, Hard

Difficult and/or long ride recommended for experienced riders only. Carry all you own equipment and have your bike well prepared. Contact ride leader for details.

Ours has worked well for 40 years. Only those people who do not take the time to read it do not understand it.
And, it looks to me like the DSMRA have more or less copied OUR grading system.
I will oppose strongly any change to a system that has worked for so long and only does not work for those that fail to read it.
We have 4 levels only.
Level 1
Level 2.
Clubman
Experienced
and these are all that is needed.

Both systems should work well. I only found one fault in the Amtra system.
The ride organizer/Leader deceits   the level of the ride.  As he is in most cases Expert level he’s under rating the ride level. What’s poo easy for him can be quiet hard for others.
I think it would be a good Idea that after every ride is over, he asked the other entire rider, as what level there would grade the ride. That would give him a better understanding of their ride capability.
I was on a recent Neerim south level 2 ride. I managed quiet well, but I would classify some of the Hills as Clubman close to Expert.

And another rider would call the same hill level 1 or 2  Huh

A level 2 ride takes in all terrain, it's just the speed you cover the ground and how much assistance is given that changes.
A level 2 ride leader is not going to take the group up a hill that's going to take 4 hours for the group to get up, that's not a days riding.
If after reading the info on the ride you have questions.
Phone the ride leader and ask them and they will answer your questions.

The grading system is a guide and is never going to be perfect Tongue
