I'm no expert when it comes to Flouro's in your Garage ' BUT" Personally i would go Philips Life max TLD36W/865 Cool Daylight and switch them in Banks. My Garage has 2 Circuits, Twin 36w x 2 for the Car area, and the same for my Working/Bench Area.
LED just don't give off the Light that i like to work under, and for the amount of time there on , it cost Bugger All.
Remember this: If you use Ballast/ Starter Type Flouro's it takes 8 Hrs of Power to Start Them, so leave them on
The New Electronic type take Bugger all to start, but there Life Span is nowhere near the old Ballast type.
Here's another Hint: If you have a Steel Roof then use Flouro's without Reflectors, you can use the Reflected light to Assist in Lighting the Garage.
Like i said " I know nothing about Flouro's"

Don't get confused with colour and lumens 6000k is the lamp colour temperature not brightness you can get lamps in 3000 4000 5000 6000 3000 being warm white 6500 being daylight aim for around 5000 cool daylight as 6000 has a more blue in the spectrum as for ballast verses electronic ballast have heat losses but can last 20 years I would go for tri phosphor lamps in a cool day light as they tend to have a higher lumen output if you are really keen send me your shed specs ie w x l x ceiling height I can get a photo metric done for light level of 400 lux at 1 meter which is the industry standard for general use it will give you type of light and lumen level I have 8 x 2 x 36 in an area of say 10 x 8 meters which takes around .8 kw to run and I know less than peter

I need lights for my shed ,I have 1 100watt coles globe in the middle of the shed . It makes it very hard to work on the bikes after dark , as it casts a shadow over everything.
