the dse web site has a nice glossy brochure

trail bike riders
A Victorian Government initiative
Register with an email address now!
As part of the Trial Bike ‘Ride For Tomorrow’ Initiative funded by the Victorian Government, the
Department of Sustainability and Environment has engaged the research company Instinct and
Reason to engage with trail bike riders to explore riders’ views on a range of issues relating to
trail bike use of public land.
Trail bike riding on public land, predominately
non-metro national parks and state forest
networks across Victoria has seen a surge of
popularity in recent times, and as part of the
initiative to make your riding experiences
more enjoyable, safe and environmentally
sustainable you are invited to complete an
online survey which will be hosted online
in March.
The survey will investigate trail bike rider
feedback on a range of issues. It will take
about 15-20 minutes to complete and those
completing the survey will have the chance
to win a $150 gift certificate from Myers.
Please note that Instinct and Reason is an
independent research company and the
confidentiality of your responses is assured.
Instinct and Reason will aggregate the
views and report back to the Department
of Sustainability and Environment generally,
and no information that could identify you
personally will be disclosed.
If you are interested in registering for the
survey, please send email to
trailbikes@instinctandreason.com by Friday,
6
March, 2009. When the survey is launched it will be sent directly to the email address you sent
it from. Please ensure that you register your interest before the deadline date to ensure that you
get to complete the survey.
Please feel free to pass this information on to any other trail bike riders who may be interested
in participating.
Your input and views as riders are important to the success of this initiative – so
thanks for giving it your consideration.

Done also!

Here is what I sent.

In the subject line of the email I put this,

Trail rider survey.

In the contents area I put this,

Hi

I wish to participate in the upcoming trail rider survey.

Regards
Your name here!

Now if you copy and past that into an email, change it to your name at the bottom of course, the job is done!

"Your Name Here"?

Got an email today with the link to the online survey.
The link only works once so it's no use to post it up here.
Had my say, see what happens next as there is a part where it asks if you wish to participate further.

I just did the survey, I going to have a gamble and say that the feedback in relation to the DSE isn't going to be positive!

That is an interesting point Chris.

Some surveys seem to have pre-engineered results. In fact, if you word a survey in the correct way you can get pretty much any outcome that you are trying to achieve. We need be aware of this when answering surveys. And we also need to be aware that if we don't participate we cannot be heard.

Some of the questions were very interesting, I would say that the whole survey was very critical of the DSE.  I don't know were the questions originated from perhaps focus groups?

Many of the points in the survey were related to things discussed at the focus groups.
