Title: wr 300 gearing
Post by: Ebay on December 13, 2013, 07,25:39 AM
Hi all, while rebuilding the 300 i noticed the sprocket and chain are nackered. Heres a question for the guys that own these bikes, what gearing do you run?

Cheers, ian

Find out what the standard gearing is for it and go from there.

I try to add a tooth to the front sprocket, the sprocket and chain will last better, you will have to add a few teeth to the rear sprocket to compensate.

Tight stuff, stay with the standard ratio.
General trail riding, drop two teeth off the rear.
High Country, maybe take another tooth or two off the rear.
Desert, as big as you can on the front and 5+ off the rear.

Ian.
I think you would be better off working out at what speed Jeff's Kato tops out? The go for a gearing set up a little taller than that, in case you forget to put the bins out?
Al  ;D
