I’m looking to get back into riding and was considering a KTM 450 EXC. Previously I had a WR 250 which was great but after awhile I was wanting more power. Recently a friend mentioned that the KTM 350 is more suitable for the single trails/ technical type riding where you have to throw the bike around and the 450 is better for the longer type desert (open track) rides.

If you have experience on either the KTM 350 or 450 or both – your advice on which bike best suites what type of riding conditions and the general differences between each bike would be much appreciated.

Cheers Duncan.

Hi Duncan this is a topic that will get a very wide response but here's my two cents.

I've had a fair few bikes over the years but my current ride is a 2011 husaberg 250 2 stroke
Great bike light and nimble for the tight stuff.
But I stepped of a wr450 2008 and that was a great bike but it was boring to ride in the end I'd lived the high country and desert.
But too heavy to lug round Al's fumina rides all day.

All in all asses the style of riding you lik where it's single track or the open stuff. Get the bike that suits the one you like as if you hate the hight country rocks a big bore bike won't help.

My 2 banga still goes to the high country and desert it's just hard work on it.

If I had to buy a bike tomorrow it would be a 350 ktm or a husaberg husky thingy

I had a 2009 WR450 until a year ago when I stepped onto a Berg 350. Love it as will you love your new 350. Good choice.
