Would Advertising on the web page be worthwhile?
Would the club be interested in offering space to motor bike
related business  for a fee as we have a fair bit traffic
on the site which could be worthwhile  to some one
your thoughts

I support it as a means of bringing in revenue for the club, it's common to see some form of advertising now on a web site, however best it looks "in style" with the web site and doesn't take over the site making it hard for people to navigate, I'm sure making the ads look appropriate would be easy.

Embedding Google ads into the site is an easy way to raise revenue by people clicking random ads that relate to motor bikes etc.  The other option is have our own advertising area which has merit, but might require some work to setup, maintain and seek advertisers all the time.  An idea would be to maybe embed Google AdSense for now, see how it goes and if it's successful look to branch out into our own ads.

This Google page for AdSense has all the details..
https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_AU/

Another idea I thought of was the possibility of subscribing to Google Ad-Words where by an advertisement for AMTRA will appear at the top of the users search results if they search in Google for a series of pre-configured keywords.  So for example, a search for words like

trail riding
motorcycle club
high country
dirt bike

would present you an advertisement for AMTRA.  We use this at work and it dramatically raised the traffic through our website and has resulted in a lot of new business for us.  We even have it show our web site when you search for a competitors name, all totally legal.  You only pay if the person clicks on the link and you set daily limits of say $5 to ensure some form of budget was adhered to.  I personally found AMTRA hard to find on the internet when I was looking for a club to join, I actually read about the club through a DSE brochure about Bunyip State Forest.

So good idea John, happy to pass on any details about how our guys set up the ads for us.  Daniel

The club has made policies regarding advertising, but they have been broken at a whim by who ever is responsible for the magazines content. The club has also set prices for advertising, but this has no doubt been lost.

If you wish to advertise your best bet is becoming a member of the club and becoming best mates with whoever is responsible for content and you may well get a full page spread until someone complains.

That's how it works....

Devon,
that is not how it works. Your reply is incorrect and unhelpful. If you have anything useful to add then do so otherwise do not bother to respond on the web site. These types of posts will only cause you to have less credibility with club members.

With regard to Google adds on the web site.
I am sure we had them with an earlier version of the web site however something changed which caused us to no longer be able to run them. Perhaps send Dave Smith an email and ask him as he will have the answer.

i recon it would be good to get motorbike related companys/etc to sponsor the site..they pay for a spot(amtra revinue) and give the members a good deal(discounts on there already over marked up products).

we(as members), shop with them and give them turnover. also works in there favour, as we (the customers)who use there products, can give them feedback as to what is good and bad..this is also good for comunication and an indication of what is a good product and company is..ie:-if they support there product, feedback,.

just my 2cents....

If this thread is anything to go by there are several disillusioned souls about the place. Some to the point of insanity.
