Title: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Peter r on May 03, 2011, 06,45:07 AM I'm thinking about another bike, but have no idea about what to get, i know KTM's are substandard over the Husabergs "we all know that , but orange boys are just kidding themselves", so maybe a TM 250 or a Aprilla RXV 550. Maybe i go back to basics and get a WR, klx or a DR, maybe i just wait for the RMX450 to get ADR compliance.
i would really like a CRE500 with full reg!!! Tell us what i should be riding?? Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Ian Robinson on May 03, 2011, 06,48:59 AM I dont think you can buy the Aprilia new anymore. It would be good to have something different. I had thoughts of an Aprilia a while back but I get out riding so few times a year I could not justify the money on a new bike.

Post by: Tim Dykes on May 03, 2011, 10,10:47 AM Pete, I have the bike for you, two stroke, 48 more CC's more than that 500CRE, Full Road Reg, only thing that lets it down is it's a KTM but it is an old school one with a good confident front end. I've only ever done 160kmh plus a hand full of times on it...
Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Peter r on May 03, 2011, 10,33:36 AM Love the Berg, but need to start the ball rolling for another bike, might just get a new 570 if nothing fits the bill !!

Sounds like a beast, you should be able to legs behind the ears mono's on that one.
An Aprillia RXV550? That will make a Honda CRF look reliable. 95% of them sold are still out there, the other 5% made it back. Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Ken R on May 04, 2011, 08,44:25 AM Time to come clean Pee Air, it's the Stegs pegs ain't it - they dont work down hill do they?
How many k's and dollars on the old berg? Really don't know what to suggest to replace it with though. There would be some CR500's sitting around that just need a new set of rings and off you ding, if your serious of course. Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Peter r on May 04, 2011, 12,10:28 PM Time to come clean Pee Air, it's the Stegs pegs ain't it - they dont work down hill do they? Steg pegs seem to stop you sliding back up or down hills, they keep you stable whenever your standing, i never intended them for down hills, just up the buggers. Anyway "Bikes" i might as well keep the Berg as there's nothing new around at the moment that makes me quiver. How many k's and dollars on the old berg? Looks nice and gets good reviews (and so it should, even though it's part KTM)

Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: andrewp on September 13, 2011, 11,07:52 AM Does anyone own a Husaberg TE 250 or 300. I'm looking for a new bike and tying to decide between the KTM 300 or the Husaberg. It seems the front suspension and triple clamps is the advantage for the Berg, but the 2012 KTM's look sweet and have the newer frame setup.
I'm curious to know just how good the closed cartridge forks in the Berg are? Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: AL on September 13, 2011, 11,25:44 AM Mr Petrie, ask Dave and Row Smith. Dave has the Berg and Row has the Ktm in 250's. I like the feel of the Berg more than th normal feel of a Ktm front end.

Go the 250 KTM, it has a better frame but lacks the Ripper Forks, unless your a gun rider like Seano, you won't be able to tell the difference. I took Paul lacys Berg 300 out last week and rode the Sh!t out of it for an hour, i couldn't really tell the difference in forks to my 570.I'm curious to know just how good the closed cartridge forks in the Berg are? Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Aaron on September 13, 2011, 01,07:14 PM I have heard some ktm dealers(boltons) may be offering the CC forks on ktm's for a little extra on new bikes. I have no idea if it's true as I have no intrest in the current kattos. E start is for girls.
Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: andrewp on October 14, 2011, 11,27:25 AM Well the decision was made and purchase completed on the 2012 EXC 300. Bike feels great, loads of power and light as a feather. Needs a little more throttle control than the WR250F though.
Was a bit thirsty on the first ride but i'll get that sorted out. (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/700_14_10_11_7_08_49.JPG) Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: Brad on October 14, 2011, 08,07:56 PM Nice one great purchase. Whats the tank size on the 2012 300?
Title: Re: Looking for a new Bike soon. Post by: andrewp on October 15, 2011, 06,52:06 AM The tank is 10 Litres for the Australian bike but most of the websites list it as 9 Litres.
