Hi mate I've got a 2011 Kato 300, I don't think there is much difference except for the extra gear on the 2011, they are an awesome bike, just buy one you won't be sorry

That is total rubbish. Most 300 owners replace a piston at 100 hours. I would expect the bottom end to last 200-300+ hours. A lot of 300's do 10,000km plus on the original bottom end.

I was told by other 300 owners, no need to to a top end rebuild before 150 hours, as long you do your maintenance properly.

i have an 09. no real difference to the '10 except single walled expansion chamber. i did my piston at 100 odd hours, it was still in spec...just. never heard of anyone with a bottom end failure. unless its been dusted but that could happen to any bike. sounds like your mate is jealous

I bought a new 11 one last week and have ridden it twice. Only problem so far was the lecky start not working which had the service dept stunned but it turned out to be a rare earthing problem with the starter motor, too much powder coat build up on the frame where it gets earthed so it was a simple tap strip job that was fixed within half an hour. The reason i got one was due to hearing no issues about reliability and so does the Gas Gas EC300 but the kato has better resale value. Al

I got the jd jetting kit installed on mine, dont really know what it would be like without it but the bike still goes tops. By the way you wont have any regrets getting a 300 stroker Al
