The following is a note about a club and riding that may be of interest to a growing number of AMTRA members.
Ian
My name is Graham Lawson and I am the secretary of the Ulysses Adventure riders group. I am part of the NSW group, largely centred around Sydney but actually spread all over the state. You would no doubt know about the Ulysses club and you possibly have AMTRA members who are Ulyssians.
The Sydney basin group has been growing over the last few years and we are now offering quite a lot of rides, from one day to 2 week adventures. At the moment our group is trying to drum up interest from other parts of Australia and offer dirt riders some long terms options for continuing their riding once they have passed a certain “youthful” era. In reality, the typical age range for our riders is 30’s to 60’s.
Many of our riders are new to dirt bikes, usually riding the GS’s or bigger KTM’s but our group has become a bit more hard core, typically DR’s/DRZ/640 KTM’s etc. Quite a few are long term dirt riders with 30+ years experience.
We have a website which has dramatically improved over the last few months –

There is a new Melbourne group that we are encouraging. Please have a look at the website and if you think that some of your riders may be interested in a different experience or might even consider a harder core group with more challenging rides, we would welcome their input.
I am a former member of NSW AMTRA from the late 70’s to 80’s, having held a number of executive positions in that time. We are having an annual gathering next year at Streaky Bay in SA, which may be of interest to some of your riders.
No obligations Ian, but if you have any questions please contact me

I did a road ride with them once, after passing some of them, I had a few ppl come up to me & say, ...you must be on a death wish....I made up my mined that I wouldn't ride with them again, I'm still to young to ride with those old ppl.
Maybe this adventure rides might be a bit different.

Falling off doesn't hurt, it's the sudden stop that does the damage.
