Hi guys. I know this topic has been done many times before but as I'm getting back into trail riding and being so long since I owned my last one I thought I had better get your opinions.
Ok I have in my bank account about $2700 and was looking at getting an RMX 250 (around 2000 model) as I'm only a light weight(about 70kg) and not that tall. I have ridden this bike in the past and they are nice and light to throw around and have a meaty but smooth delivery of power(as I'm not exactly "buff" this is very desirable for the spindley things that I pass off as arms and legs). They are also super easy to throw a set of rings at etc. The downside being a refuel on a long trail ride requires carring oil and economy not as good as the 4 bangers.
On the other hand I was looking at an 03 WR250F. I would need to save for another 3-4 months to have enough to climb onto one of these but the electric start and no permix does sound nice. I have only heard good reports about this bike but I am concerned that: after a few months of getting back into riding I might find it a little under powered(have done a few years of enduros with Oyster Bay Motorcycle club) a couple of kids ago(about 10years...) and that they have to be pushed pretty hard to get the best out of them and that it will be a bit more expensive to maintain. Like I said, it has been a long time since i've ridden and I could be way off the mark on all accounts so if I am please set me straight. Any feedback would be great and I can't wait to hit the trails with you guys.
