Title: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Willbar on March 22, 2010, 08,04:23 AM Ok fella's it has dawned on me that there are a few members who have not thrown a leg over there trail bike for a long time and I would like a expression of interest from members who are over 40 years young now and who would be interested in a level 1 / 2 type morning ride around Neerim Sth some time in may then a social lunch at the pub after words. Also if you are interested, then what day is better for you, Saturday or Sunday.
It would be great to have around 15 or 20 of the clubs old farts along for a great day of socializing. If the level is below the old farts then we can make it just about any level you wish. Post by: Peter r on March 22, 2010, 08,52:55 AM Funny how their in a Motorbike club and don't ride, that's like Will-i-am being a Member of the blue Oyster Bar and not attending their events !!No point being in a club and not doing the thing it was started for. "beats me".
I think i might join the Piano Accordion Club for no reason!! Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Willbar on March 22, 2010, 09,17:22 AM I could just see u with a piano According but I thought a Ferret or Gerbil club might be up your street. Will

Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Brad on March 22, 2010, 09,26:13 AM Peter if a member wants to pay then they are entitled to do what they want and how they want, when they want.
In your trade there may be fee's that need to be paid for entitlements, insurance or memberships etc.. I take it then, if you think, act or do stuff differently to the norm then you are advocating loss of these entitlements, insurance or memberships? Seems a bit harsh Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: SCHEVY on March 22, 2010, 09,33:48 AM Hey Will...I qualify! ;D...I'll come on your old fossil ride if it goes ahead, since I have no-one to ride with at the moment :'(
Cheers, Marls Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Mick on March 22, 2010, 10,17:32 AM Gee I am over 40ty but sure dont see myself as old, unfit but not old ;D,,going for a ride for a couple of hours and then sitting in a pub would not be my idea of a good ride day each to there own I guess.
Anyone that wants a real good days ride at Strathbogie Ranges stopping out bush for a snacks and drinks at different times then get back to riding, contact me and we can get a date happening as I know the area very well and would be more than happy to show you around :). What do you mean Marls you have no one to ride with, Sue has a ride coming up, have you not seen that on her website ;D ;) Cheers Mick. Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Ian Robinson on March 23, 2010, 06,24:36 AM Good idea Will. Its good to see someone willing to try and get new ideas for rides up and running. Hopefully members will support the ride. Depending on my work load I will try to make it if it is on a Sunday however the way work has been lately I cannot make any guarantees.

Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Serge C on March 23, 2010, 08,12:47 AM There seems to be a few rides happening that have lunches (or dinners) at a pub. Perhaps we could dust off the old ride level of 'Pubman'. Level 1, level 2, Clubman and Pubman! Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Frankie-boy on March 23, 2010, 09,43:58 AM I think I'm more then qualified at 63 years young I reckon it would be great to hit the trails with some old farts.
I prefer Saturday, but Sunday is ok too, depending on date I'll be there. Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Peter r on March 23, 2010, 09,55:35 AM Lets get some idea of how old is an old fart, is it 60 UP, 50 UP, 40 UP, BECAUSE I 'M 44 AND FEEL 55, BUT ACT LIKE I'M 22. And my Wife feels like she's still in her 20's "too me". I'm Confused
Question is "Am i classed as an old Fart" ?? Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Willbar on March 23, 2010, 10,43:34 AM Thing is Frankie you have to look at what people wine about which puts them into the category earlier, things like it's too far to travel to Abbeyard, its too cold to go riding, or in my case it is too hot, you get the picture, when you are young nothing matters sh't I think about how long I would spend preparing and how far I would drive years gone by to race a HQ holden, not any more. Post by: Serge C on March 23, 2010, 10,54:46 AM Good thinking young Serge, can i use this PUBMAN idea that you have thought about , in my ride Description Please ?? I can't lay claim to the term, but I think it's a ripper! AMTRA used to regularly have Pubman events (before my time), but I think they should be re-instated. GO FOR IT! I can't lay claim to the term, but I think it's a ripper! AMTRA used to regularly have Pubman events (before my time), but I think they should be re-instated. GO FOR IT! Pubman rides were first introduced by Mick Curwen, who was (is)a manager of a pub although he now lives in Queensland. Title: Re: Old farts social ride Expression of interest invited. Post by: Willbar on March 23, 2010, 09,56:10 PM I was thinking of how best to describe the Pubman level and I figure it is someone who will go thru or under or over or around just about anything to get to the pub for a feed. Level of support to fellow riders would be full support as long as they are also going to the pub, if they are not going then they would be treated as a clubman level rider and have to deal with it with out much support. I like to enjoy myself riding to the bush, and not come home totaly buggerd. I don't mine some tricky bits, love mud holes and River crossing. For me it does'nt matter which day, as long it's not pouring down in Buckets or stinking hot(32 plus) |
