I remember you telling me something about how to get the forks back the way they should be after taking off the front wheel. Can you pls explain, or someone else with a little more knowledge than me.. If your asking about re aligning the forks there's two ways you can do it.Cheers.. PS. Did the rear bearings as well...All over it... You lift your bike up on a stand so the front wheel is off the ground, give it a good spin, then pull on the front break and nip up the clamp bolts while still holding the front break. Or you can not lift the bike up, hold the front break on and bounce the front of the the bike up and down to align the forks then nip up the clamp bolts while still holding the front break. Both of these are done with the axle nut slightly loose. I bet it won't take long until I'm corrected and I find a better way to do it. As for the more knowledge than you thing! I'm not going there!! Title: Re: Wildwood Rock Post by: Lefty on November 01, 2012, 06,29:57 AM Good on you Nath, realign the forks is what I was on about. Thanks and I'm off to give it ago.
Picket lines --- bash you, spray you, tazer you ! When its all over we can go and have a frostie or two... Ha ha.. Title: Re: Wildwood Rock Post by: nathanstott on November 01, 2012, 06,49:16 AM Good on you Nath, realign the forks is what I was on about. Thanks and I'm off to give it ago. Haha! We do actually end up with a good relationship with the police on pickets and most of the time the police don't want to be there, but they are just doing there job and so are we! Picket lines --- bash you, spray you, tazer you ! When its all over we can go and have a frostie or two... Ha ha.. Just a personal preference but bike up off the ground is how i do it. Title: Re: Wildwood Rock Post by: Peter r on November 01, 2012, 08,23:14 AM I use a G Clamp to force the Forks together as tight as possible, then i use a 3/4 Rattle Gun to tighten the Axle so tight that the thread comes out and hits you in
the head, then rattle up the 2 x 6mm Nuts up till they spin Freely. Then apply heaps of loktite around the Brake Pads, so when your riding they give of a Sweet smell. :o :o ;D ;D :o :o ;D ;D 8) 8) Title: Re: Wildwood Rock Post by: Willbar on November 01, 2012, 08,37:21 AM I use a G Clamp to force the Forks together as tight as possible, then i use a 3/4 Rattle Gun to tighten the Axle so tight that the thread comes out and hits you in You Idiot ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D LOL you know you only need to use the 1/2 drive rattle gun, the 3/4 is way to much overkill the head, then rattle up the 2 x 6mm Nuts up till they spin Freely. Dont know if anyone is organising a trade stand this year, but we should all be focusing on getting next years HCR organised otherwise it wont happen, then we wont have any money to run a website were we can all learn about how to put loctite on your brake pads. Pete, which colour loctite, blue?
