Title: Eildon- Abbeyard
Post by: Peter r on March 27, 2010, 12,53:56 PM
Eildon-Abbeyard. Clubman - Expert
Sounds like a good idea but not for the light Hearted, but need some stats?
How far from Abbeyard to Craigs hut? Time, Klm, Fuel useage?
I can refuel at Jamieson and that will get us another 120klm towards Abbeyard, but i think Jamo to Abbeyard would be a bit far, so where could we get fuel after jamo? without a fuel Dump.
We will need someone to cart food, fuel and sleeping gear up to Abbeyard for the overnight stay, they will be reinburst for their fuel etc.
100% maintained bikes will only be going and will be scrutineered the week prior to our adventure.

Not totally sure Pete. But with Big Al we did Merton to Tolmie for fuel then on to Abbeyard for fuel and on to Porepunkah. So i would say you can do Jamo to tolmie then Abby. And do it it a day easy as we made Merton to Porepunkah in a day, via the Boggies in the morning. Hope this helps Pete, Al

Gents

I was up at Tolmie a week ago and no fuel at the shop at the moment. I will keep you posted when they will have fuel again.

Thanks Pete

Funny you say that, i was on a corner at the Last Marysville ride and a couple of you Love childs turned up on rather large bikes Ie: 990. I asked them " where's Craig" they answered "he whimped out".

A few years back Peter D and I did Abbeyard to Jamo and back in a day. The result of a lot of arseing about in the morning was a midnight return to Abbeyard. Some bikes needed to carry fuel.

There was fuel available at Howqua back then. We used that in the arvo.

There will be plenty of people at Abbeyard during the HCR maybe one of them will carry the fuel you need  ;D

Simmonds Darby & Walker did Narbethong to Abbeyard a couple of years back. Ended up sleeping in the bush about 25km from Abbeyard due to a fallen log that they could not see a way around.
