Who is up for a Morning pubman ride at Neerim in June, one catch you must attend on a registered bike either full or rec reg that is at least 15 years old or older and no electric starters kick only ? Not quite Vinduro but AMTRADuro, could be tiring and a good laugh. Will

I like the idea, but....I don't have an old bike.

I'm an older rider, though.  If I promise not to start my bike with the button, do I qualify?

sounds like a good idea, i Qualify for the over 15 year Thingy, DR 750 1987 and maybe bring a spare DR750 as well!!

That would B a cheap lunch, Serge would only need a entries size meal.

How about we screw some blocks to Serges boots and he could borrow the spare DRZ....

the sad thing is that up untill i got the "new" bike i met the criteria everytime i rode!!!! and even with the new one i almost still qualify.......

Wade I don't think you read the conditions of entry correctly, you missed the line "Peter E and Wade E are not allowed to enter; no correspondence will be entered into because they will win!"

We'd have to get a photo before the ride starts of the whole group and then one of each of the starters.

Then one of each of the riders after the ride if we are still alive. ;D ;D ;D

I'm still not sure who's bike I'm riding!

Alright all jokes aside I want to post June rides so who is up for the old banger duro , my old XR 600 is ready 2 go. I need a few as I do not want our usual flat out pace just a nice cruise in the bush on the old bangers.Will
Wade you going to bring one of your IT's, Pete you in on the big Suzy. What about Mat R can you get one of your IT's going by then. Maybe I could get some prices from the club like for the best presented bike, best period dressed rider, oldest bike, worse presented bike, hardest to start bike, smoky bike award, noisy bike award etc.If most can not be ready for late June we can always do another in July or August.

Will if your XR qualifies so does my WR.  You XR has more after market, bling, stickers, parts and wheels that are newer than the WR.

I might put a ride on for only bikes built after 2008, and it must have an electric start! 

June will be pushing IT. Just got the DRZ motor back together after 2 years. Will check out the 200 after that and see if I can make IT.

 548cc of two stroke motor, KTM built them for desert racing and only sold them in the US and Aus.
In the US they were called DXC's Desert (X)Cross Country and sold with no lights.
Here they were EXC's sold with lights and fully road registrable.
One of these won Finke in 90, the only year one of these won the race but they tried for many years but had issues with reliability.
The CR500 was the king of the Finke.
The 540 motor was built for "bottom end" grunt and was a different motor than the normal 500cc motocross motors.
I took this to Calder Park twice, first time with a knobby and ran a 14 sec pass. 2nd time I had a road tyre on it and it did a low 13 at over 100 MPH, I was short shifting it in the first three gears as it wanted loop out.

This thing is a real buzz to ride; going up through the gears is much more fun the TE510.

Gee Tim I haven't seen that bike since the desert when I first joined the club.

Probably not, I'd spend more time getting ready to go, travelling and then cleaning up afterwards than I would riding on the day.
If I'm going riding I'm going for the day, half a day isn't worth it

Wanna sell it?

That baby floats my boat. You can take all your double over head cams, electronic fuel injection, batteries, starter motors and ergonomics that work and jam them. Not too keen on the left hand kick starter though. I never got used to that on my TC610. Does it start easy?

For a big two stroke, yes.
Like any bike you need to know what it requires.

I always liked the left kick starter bikes, you didn't have to change legs to select a gear, a good thing on a steep hill.
