Wade you going to bring one of your IT's, Pete you in on the big Suzy. What about Mat R can you get one of your IT's going by then. Maybe I could get some prices from the club like for the best presented bike, best period dressed rider, oldest bike, worse presented bike, hardest to start bike, smoky bike award, noisy bike award etc.If most can not be ready for late June we can always do another in July or August. So far Will 1992 Xr600 Frankie 1988 KTM350 Title: Re: Ride idea's Post by: chrism on May 08, 2010, 12,44:38 AM Will if your XR qualifies so does my WR. You XR has more after market, bling, stickers, parts and wheels that are newer than the WR.
To quote your advert: "cables replaced, triple clamp bearings replaced, frame repainted, new wheels by Yoko 7 with new bearings fitted. New renthal sprockets and Ek chain, new levers and tag bars and grips and bar risers, Ego bark busters, gripper seat cover and new Miar black gaurds and black polisport headlight and shroad fitted. Fender bags on front and rear gaurds, new pivot pegs and FMF muffler." Title: Re: Ride idea's Post by: Tim Dykes on May 14, 2010, 06,59:23 AM Where's a pic of yours Tim? Right here Aaron (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/18_14_05_10_2_30_04.jpg) 548cc of two stroke motor, KTM built them for desert racing and only sold them in the US and Aus. In the US they were called DXC's Desert (X)Cross Country and sold with no lights. Here they were EXC's sold with lights and fully road registrable. One of these won Finke in 90, the only year one of these won the race but they tried for many years but had issues with reliability. The CR500 was the king of the Finke. The 540 motor was built for "bottom end" grunt and was a different motor than the normal 500cc motocross motors. I took this to Calder Park twice, first time with a knobby and ran a 14 sec pass. 2nd time I had a road tyre on it and it did a low 13 at over 100 MPH, I was short shifting it in the first three gears as it wanted loop out. There is a photo of me with it at Calder Park in a old Amtraction ::) This thing is a real buzz to ride; going up through the gears is much more fun the TE510. Title: Re: Ride idea's Post by: Willbar on May 14, 2010, 07,16:43 AM You going to join us Tim and bring it out so we can see a real bike in action. Will

Wanna sell it? That baby floats my boat. You can take all your double over head cams, electronic fuel injection, batteries, starter motors and ergonomics that work and jam them. Not too keen on the left hand kick starter though. I never got used to that on my TC610. Does it start easy? Title: Re: Ride idea's Post by: Tim Dykes on May 14, 2010, 03,24:03 PM Not too keen on the left hand kick starter though. I never got used to that on my TC610. Does it start easy? For a big two stroke, yes. Like any bike you need to know what it requires. I always liked the left kick starter bikes, you didn't have to change legs to select a gear, a good thing on a steep hill.
