Sorry I haven’t written for awhile, been a bit busy. The tracks around Woods Point are still good but you should be aware of debris on the tracks, eg branches, rocks etc. Old Coach Road is especially bad at the moment although it is not blocked, you will also find logging still going on at the Webber Spur end.

In relation to that there have been some thefts of Diesel fuel and interference with machinery in that area recently. I would hope that all the riding and driving fraternity would abhor this type of theft, after all these blokes have to make a living too. If anyone knows of any thefts like this or comes across similar acts in the bush please pass on the information to police, either via your locals or Crimes Stoppers.

Another thing to look out for now is deliberate or stupid acts of arson in the scrub, if you come across this it is your life that’s at risk as well as ours, please report any acts that you know of, these people do not deserve anyone’s protection and must be caught. We have had too many deaths to take it lightly and this goes for anywhere in Australia pleases be alert. We are not out of the woods yet as far as fire goes in Victoria but I still encourage you to use the bush safely, hopefully it will be safe enough up here again soon, (send us some rain Huey). At present there is a lot of fire fighting activity in the Southern Big River area between the Upper Yarra Dam and Enoch’s Point in the North East, Mt. Duffy is a no go area, Morris track, Dray track and most of that area is still dangerous. The Warburton Woods Point Marysville Roads are still closed to most traffic and there is a lot of danger from trees etc as well as burn offs.

You are all welcome to come up to Woods Point for a visit but via Mansfield , Noojee or Rawson only, check the warnings for the time and weather reports for when you come, please send me an email of your plans etc, so that I have some idea of whose up here.

Title: Victorian Bush closed for Business - Neerim and Surrounds
Post by: Brad on February 19, 2009, 11,50:38 PM
Folks,
Thought I would see if the Neerim South-Latrobe River Rd and Powelltown-Limberlost Road riding area’s are open for patronage?

When I spoke with Noojee Police (ICC) they said are very busy at the moment and asked people and traffic to stay out as they are still working on mopping up and making things in safe in these area's.

DSE Trailbikes person also called me back and echoed the same comments. They said call back in two weeks as both area's were relatively untouched by fires however there are many tree's to be felled for safety reasons.

The bush is burnt not very far south of the Limberlost unloading area. I'd say anywhere south of Limberlost will be a no go area for a while.
