I,m heading to Tasmania at xmas for 3 weeks, Can anyone recomended some "must do" riding areas?
Have a look at DBW, some from there did a trip to Tassie last Easter I think. Might give you some ideas. It is also a situation where a paid tour company may be worthwhile. See Devil Trek tours for Tassie. Insert jokes regarding maps of Tassie here. Mat. My mates wife has a map of Tassie if you need one, she went down a couple of years ago, for a carpet munchin weekend. J It's been raining at Abbeyard a bit over the last few days with a Minor Flood warning issued on the river. If you click here you'll see a map of the rainfall for the first day of the year, Abbeyard is under the greenest area. http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/silo/rain_maps.cgi?map=contours&variable=totals&area=vic&period=cmonth®ion=vic&time=latest Don't know how much fell there but Whitfield had 64mm, Edi Upper 55mm, Tolmie 35mm and Hotham 38mm. There is no rain monitor at Abbeyard but there is a river height monitor. They get the information out of the river height monitor that's in Sugarloaf station, the one that's on the river side of the road across from Abbeyard Station. The data comes out of there via a radio link, which is what the radio mast on Worseldine is there for. The sinal is sent up there first so the radio signal can get out of the valley. Here is the graph of the river over the last four days.  |
