Well Ive done it, ive made a ride that i crawled into the car to get home? Hope everyone enjoyed the day and the new stuff. Had to bat up this morning to take the boy to Mt Baw Baw still very tired and weery! After driving around 20 trees, under 15 and chainsawing afew more. Then running up and down chasing a 4 year old, got to drive home the short way via Rawson as road no longer passable im ready to relax for work on monday. Hope Rob's knee pulled up ok. Cheers Al

Hi Tim it means that this is the new shout box for the moment as the committee does not have an answer to fixing the old one for the moment and we felt this one was actually more interesting than the old shout box so we thought we should give it a go till we have an answer on the old one.Regards Will Munro

Hey Pete you must be needing a hit of 2 wheels. How long you have you been out of action now.

Yes your right Wade, i need a two wheel hit also a one wheel hit as well. Just came back from the Hospital for my 9 week check up and things look good with the bones, but i'm in for another 2 months until i can walk without the croutches. Hopefully i can do the Eildon ride i planned for late november but we will see how it goes.

I'm going to Cowbaw for the AM L2+ and I'm tail man for the PM L1/2 ride. Sounds like there will be some inexperienced riders there which is great.

I notice how everybody talks about rides at different levels, L1, clubman etc.  What are all the levels? and what do you need to move up or down levels?

Hi Stewart this is how it was explained to me when I first started riding with AMTRA

AMTRA rides are graded at 4 different levels.
The following is a description of each of the levels.
Level 1 For riders with little or no trail riding skills.
Level 2 For riders with skill levels above those of a beginner and usually easy rides with lots of
assistance given.
Clubman For riders with average skills and the ability to cope with most terrain and bike repairs
(Punctures, broken levers etc). Assistance given if required.
Experienced For riders with the ability to cope with all terrain with little or no help unless asked for.
Experienced grade rides usually cover long distances.
The last thing we want to do is take you out on your first AMTRA ride and have you not enjoy it. Consider your
skill level carefully and start out on an easier grade of ride. Remember that extremes of weather can change the
level of a ride from easy to hard and vice versa.
If you are unsure, contact one of the new member officers or ride leader for further information. Phone numbers
are on the front page or pre ride notices.
Items That Should Be Carried On Every Ride
Small personal First Aid Kit, front and rear (or 19”) tubes, puncture repair kit, tyre levers and pump, set of
spanners to suit your bike, throttle and brake cables (if appropriate), clutch and front brake levers, gear lever,
epoxy repair kit, tape, short length of wire, tow rope, small length of chain, joining link and chain breaker,
waterproof matches or lighter and DWF fluid. All these items can be stored on the bike and take up little room if
packed properly.
Cornerman System
AMTRA rides operate on the Cornerman System. If the ride leader indicates to you to stop at a corner, don’t
leave the corner until the Tailman arrives. No matter how long it takes, don’t leave the corner.
If you are on a ride and think you are lost, stop where you are. If you think you can find your way back to the last
place you saw somebody, slowly and very carefully return to that place. Someone will be looking for you, so if you
don’t stay put you’ll be harder to find.
The more you participate in club activities, the more you will benefit from the club. Come along to the monthly
meetings and meet other members. There is food and drinks available for purchase before the meeting from
6:30pm onwards.

All members should behave responsibly at all times. There are other people in the areas in which we ride and
most of these people have a poor image of motorcyclists.

Hey ppls just had a look at the problem we are over our bandwidth
we are using 6 gig online space....

now 2 options till james sorts out our server for us .
1 is i delete a selection of old photos
2 people deleate some of there owne pics that was no one will complain i deleated the pic and they dont have a copy any more
or just wack you pics on photo bucket and link them accross its better for our bandwith as well..

Does that mean however, that if someone clicks on the post that they refer to, then the pic won't show up?

If that's the case, better be careful about what we delete.

I have deleted all my pics however there was only six or eight of mine. There are others I have posted for AMTRA NSW however not enough to make much difference.

I vote for AMTRA Ride pic's only no personal stuff unless its the odd for sale item, archive off all the ones older than one year and set the photo size limit to 500K max. Have a ride photo category and one other only. Close and archive the video section making it a YouTube link.

I've deleted some, but as Ian says, they aren't big, and I don't suspect they will take much space.

The photo that Tim has as his avatar is a shot I took on a desert trip.  If I delete that photo, will Tim loose it as an avatar?

Sounds like a dumb question, but I don't want him getting grumpy(ier) at me!!

I've deleated almost three pages of my photos that I think were no longer needed.

It's a short term fix as we'll run out of space again very soon.

Hey Guys, I was a member some 25 years ago before wife and kids. I've now been riding for a few years on a 07 crf230. I'm interested in coming along on a test ride with a mate. He is on a wr250. We are competent riders but will my 230 carry me through on a level 3 ride without holding everyone up ??? Are there any 230's in the club. We generally ride Narby, Avon, Cobaw and Moe.

It's close to the area you ride and it will give you an idea of how you'll go. It's listed as a level 1 but only because Al is going to take it easy, the riding area is the same as when he puts on a higher level ride.
The 230 will be fine.

Our capacity (a space of 6Gbit) where this site is hosted is almost full, already we can't put up pictures again.
Soon, I'd guess by the weekend, we will not even be able to put up posts here as all the space would have been used :o
What's the plan in regard to this?
I'd sagest we pay for more space where the site is hosted, double it to 12Gbit ;)

 It's been raining at Abbeyard a bit over the last few days with a Minor Flood warning issued on the river.
If you click here you'll see a map of the rainfall for the first day of the year, Abbeyard is under the greenest area.

Don't know how much fell there but Whitfield had 64mm, Edi Upper 55mm, Tolmie 35mm and Hotham 38mm.

There is no rain monitor at Abbeyard but there is a river height monitor.
They get the information out of the river height monitor that's in Sugarloaf station, the one that's on the river side of the road across from Abbeyard Station.
The data comes out of there via a radio link, which is what the radio mast on Worseldine is there for. The sinal is sent up there first so the radio signal can get out of the valley.

Peter, the site ran really slowly with the shout box turned on. You would need to ask Dave the exact reason but it was something to do with the server and too much data being used due to the shout box refreshing all the time from memory.

In that case, lets upgrade the system, and be in the NOW not in the Past.

I found the site ran fine with the shout box.But that's just me.

We Need the Shout box, so we can hang Sh!t on each other.

I was mowing the Front Lawn tonight , with My Trusty Greenfields Briggs & Stratton Quantum 35 Mower,which i've had for 21 Years and never put a spanner to it or put oil in it. I got about 3/4 of the lawn mowed " then the thing just stopped". It couldn't be fuel, i just topped it up. So i pulled the starter and the thing spun like crazy "No Compression", i took it in the Garage for a look see, took the spark plug out, pulled the starter cord and the piston didn't move a Inch. This Lawn Mower has been through hell over the last 21 years, so i would highly recommend Briggs & Stratton and will be out looking for another one Tomorrow.
If i neglected my bike as i have my lawn Mower, my bike would only last 6 Month, they don't build anything like they used too!!

There's one on Ebay at the moment and i might buy it, is there anyone who Live near Hampton Park that could pick it up and take it to the General Meeting for me PLEASE!!!

Lawn Mower Update!!!
Popped into the Mower shop today and had a chat to the Thief behind the Counter, i told him what happened and how many years service i got outta the old Slugga. He gave me some prices and then said " i can sell you a brand new Motor for $150.00 with a Bottle of Oil and a New Throttle control".
i Said "are you sure it's gunna fit" yeh mate 100% it's the same Motor with a different surround, Cool, so i brought it.
"It Doesn't Fit" so back to the shop tomorrow for a Refund and tell the D!ckhead he's Fulla Sh!t !!

Yes fixed the noise, or at least found out what it is. Rear disc making a noise when muddy as it runs through the pads. When the pads get low I'll change the compound or type or compound to see if that sorts it out.

Was in sunny Eildon last weekend, fantastic to see the water up again, a few people I know in Bonnie Doon are stoked.

Bunnings will sell ya a whole mower for $150.00, needs assembly, no oil, etc. Why not give them the money after all they need it........LOL

Latest Lawn Mower Update !!
Took the New Motor and the Base back to the Mower shop today, and i said it doesn't fit, he replied "Yes it Does" i say "Crap show Me" He tries it and what do you Know "it doesn't Fit" Hello Mc Fly, i said to the Looser. So now he's looking  at it tomorrow, and probably space the motor up with some sort of spacers.

Buy a sheep...they're cheaper, and when they stop working...you can eat them!!

Lawn Mower Update took the old motor in on Friday as i couldn't get the boss of the crank shaft, so hope fully today she will be ready.

The shout box will not return. It caused too many problems with the site running slow and it used up a heap of bandwidth as it was constantly updating.

Very quiet here lately. AMTRA members seem to have nothing to say at present.
5 of us had a good night at Darrens pub on Saturday night. Unfortunately I had to leave at 7.30. Hopefully a few more will turn up for the next night.
