First bike I ever rode was a Hodaka!  I don't even know if that's how you spell it.  I have no idea or recollection about anything to do with it except it's name.

First bike I ever owned was a DR 200.  Still get misty eyed at the thought of it..... comfy seat, low seat height.  Ah, those were the days!

DP.   How about a 1938 ariel 500 single with solid back end and girder forks.
Those were the days.

First bike I rode was a BSA Bantam. First bike owned was a mini bike (home made) with a cut down push bike frame and Villiers 98 mower engine. Those were the days. You could ride all day in the park across the road from home and no-one even complained!

Can't remember what the first bike I rode was, think it was either a TAS minibike or a QR50 Honda.  Eventually managed to get my own bike which was a TS250 Suzuki when I was about 15 or 16.

First bike ever ridden was some kind of pee wee 50 (Too long ago to remember).
First bike ridden regularly was a XR 100 and first owned a trusty old 1983 XR200R. That XR coped a lot of punishment and just kept on going without skipping a beat.

First Ride (and crash) Yamaha Farmbike. P.O.S. 80cc two smoke disaster.

First Owned Honda Z50 Minitrail. 75' compliance plate model cost $200 worth about $1500 now.

That was more than 30years ago so it's ANCIENT history.

Since then - the one year that I went without a bike in 2003 was the worst ever.

P.S. Ollie - scooters are like ugly sex partners. Fun to ride but you would not want your mates to see you on one !

There was an assortment of bikes, that went through out yard in the early 50's, hard to say which was the first, as they came and went a bit. My elder brother and his mates sort of attracted them. There was one with a gear lever on the side where the petrol tank should have been.  We didn't know the make, and as we never managed to start it, I can't claim that I rode it .  It had a belt drive to a large vee pulley on the rear wheel, and with a helping of molassis we got enough friction to spin the engine, but allas, no start.  The Exelsior, AJS and Vellocete all caused us a similar load of grief, with no money for spares or registration, and licences were also thin on the ground, its probably just as well.  Now the JAP was different story, they were produced as speedway bikes, and had little more than the engine and frame. Someone produced a boat propellor about 800mm diameter. It was all duly mounted in this flat bottomed, square fronted boat, direct drive from the engine. Pretty simple really, stand in the boat and kick over the engine, engine starts, motor down river, wave to girls.  Well, with  an 800mm propellor at about 2000 rpm, the front of the boat stood up, the carburetor was now horizontal, the engine stopped and the boat dissapeared backwards into the deeper water. It was retrieved of course, for further modifications, but we never did get those waves.
