Alex Peacock told me how good these bikes were, after he purchased one, but you realy never know until you try it for yourself.
Well I met Frankie at Healsville this morning and we headed up the Chum Creek Toolangi Spur and then right at Toolangi and headed back to Healsville, were we turned left and headed up the Black Spur. The initial rides which I made, I found I had to redo the ergonomics to the leavers and mirror etc as I was getting sore hands. On the long straights I found I still get slight numbness to the RH palm but on the twisty stuff were you are moving around a bit it was perfect.
Once through the spur we headed for Marysville were we stopped for a bite to eat.
At this point I was really impressed with the bikes handling capabilities, and the slipper clutch is a beautiful piece of engineering, the brakes are perfect, plenty of feel to them and not much pressure required, the 70 horsepower is so usable, just need to keep it above 3900rpm or it hunts a bit , the seat is horrible, definably a HTFU special, just way to hard, the bike needs adjustable leavers so it can be fine tuned just that little more.
After a bite to eat we headed up to Lake Mountain, what a great piece of road this is, and a little slippery at times but that just added to the fun, we then headed back down Lake Mountain rd and turned left to go to the Reafton Spur were we followed that to the Reafton Hotel were we had a quick stop and a refreshing drink. We then headed to Warburton and Launching Place etc were we turned down the Gembrook rd, I was really at home on the bike by now and was just really getting into it on the twisty windy stuff when the low fuel light came on, had covered 240klm to this point and not sure how much you get out of a tank it was time to start short shifting and cruised to Gembrook to find no fuel open, so then to Cockatoo to also find no fuel, so I said goodbuy to Frankie, and cruised home to Pakenham pulling in for fuel with just on 280klm on the odometer and taking 12.5 litres to refill, which meant I had 1 litre left when I pulled up.
Apart from a little bit of a sore But, I love it, and I am so glad I bought it. Tyre's may be a little soft as you can see a bit of wear on the edges, but I did work them reasonably hard.
I have ordered a muffler as the standard one is just not load enough. I also need to fit the small touring screen as you do get knocked about by the wind over 95klm.
There is a real blitz on bike riders at the moment and nearly every bit of twisty rd today had Mr plod out in force and even in camouflage hiding in the bushes , we had been pre warned so we made sure we stayed to the limits so we were fine .
If anyone is looking for a very easy road bike to ride, a KTM 690 Duke could be the bike for you, 148kgs and 70 usable horespower, just awesome. thanks Frankie for the Loop. Will

Great report there Will,talk about good timing,me coming from Heathmont & Will coming from Pakenham, I arrived at the Healsville Bakery right on ten o'clock, I didn't even have time to get my helmet off, when Will rolled up As Will said Mr plod were every where, a beemer rider from Queensland, had pulled up in the black spur,when he got going again, I was doing 75km/h when he came passed me do about 90km/h yeah you guessed it Mr plod got him at the top of the spur,then at the Reefton spur, Mr plod had another one, when we got to the bottom there was two cops checking licenses of about 30 riders, yeah they were to busy to worry about us From there we headed to the Reefton pub, now you would think the cops are behind us so I can let the boy in me & let the big 1,000 have a bit of fun, lucky I didn't, because coming towards us was a unmarked cop car, I reckon Will did the right thing buying the 690 Duke, because it's no fun riding a CBR 1000rr at the speed limit. Thanks Will for your company, apart from riding at the speed limit it was a great day. Here's 3 photos I took of the day.    |

Thanks Zeb, it's just a very well balanced bike, and the power to weight is spot on. Just need to change the few minor things to suit me. I road it to work this morning and it was a breaze to ride in trafffic. I think even some one who is not keen on euro trash would like this bike to ride. Will
