New to AMTRA, My wife actually ran into some dirtbike riders while she was on holidays in Sale, Vic. I had already returned back Atlanta, Ga, USA.
My wife had asked these riders about riding in Vic. She realises that I will only return back home if I can ride.
The riders in Sale said to check this website for more info. So here I am Smiley

I am a member of the local association SETRA, (Southeastern Enduro and Trail Riders Association) They organise racing and charity rides throughout the Southeast region of the US. We have 15 enduro's and 14 Harescrambles on this years calender. New season starts next week. We race in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
I mainly race enduro's, last season I ran in 45+C. This season I will run in 45+B.
Have only been riding dirtbikes for last five years or so and love it.
Wife would love to return to Aus to live. But I need to be able to continue riding regulary. So just checking out my options here.
Looks like plenty of organised rides are available.

G'day Stewart

Welcome, no doubt you've had a fair look around here and now have an idea what we're about.

In the past the club had a competitive part to it but now days we only do trail rides. We do have members who are in more than one club to satisfy their competitive needs.

Your the right age for the club, most of us are of the vintage you are.

We, AMTRA Victoria, have members all over south east Australia, most are in Melbourne. There are other AMTRA clubs in South Australia and New South Wales, AMTRA Victoria is the biggest.

I assume your an Aussie from your screen name, where from?

So what are the chances of you coming back down here?

Thanks Tim,
Was born and lived in Sale for 24 years, then lived in the Melbourne area for 13 years, Essendon, Tulla, Melton, Mill Park and Bundoora.
If I return to live it will probably be in the NE suburbs of Melb or back near Sale.
I saw in the ride reports that there was a ride in Stradbroke, I have a sister that lives in Stradbroke. I'm sure that is sandy area to ride.

Are most trail rides on logging type roads? Or do you get on single track stuff like having difficulty getting between tree's and the like?

I do like the competition of racing but just riding with mates having a great time is important too.

Unfortunately it's illegal to ride off road here so riding single tracks in the state forest is a no go Cry
However a few members have there own single track on there own properties.

No worries, we have the same problems over here too. In SC we have enduro's in several State Forests, but that is the only time we are allowed to ride those trails. Florida too has races in State Parks, sometimes they get cancelled because they have a large group of greenies down there that hate bikes.  So most riding is done at private ride parks or friends properties.
We have some State run offroad area's. They are not policed well and you end up with drunk rednecks on 4-wheelers screaming around with little kids on the back, no helmets on any of them. Serious riders avoid these parks.
