As the closest mountain to Melbourne I am wanting to try this as a ride area. There a a few approaches from the south and east. If anyone knows some good tracks in this area can they please reply or PM me. The view would be to run a ride up there which would in general be cooler due to altitude.

Hi Brad, the trouble is Baw Baw is a national park so theres not a lot TRACKS through it but roads. To the north its Thomson dam [ good tracks] west is upper Yarra dam[no entry] west Thomson river good tracks near Abberfeldy and south its Fummia and Erica {Als territory}  Tongue
Hope this helps as Ive camped and fished up there Wink

Thanks Eric have done the Thompson side (my preference),won't go where Al's or Wiggy's ride's are as an AMTRA courtesy without permission which is par for the course to date.  May look around a bit more?

As previous mentioned Baw Baw is National Park with only roads that can be used. The other problem is that area is also catchment, east side of Baw Baw. Then going north you get to the Upper Yarra area of catchment so there is not a lot out there.
Brad I did a ride with Tayf and a few MCRCV people a few years ago and rode from Lake Narracan area to Toongabbie for fuel/fuel and return.
It's probably 15 more minutes in the car than Neerim but it a whole new world and it is similar terrain to Neerim.
