Ok, went to Vicroads and waited. Then a bit later, as I was still waiting, I decided to wait some more. Then the process started. Paperwork, you can find all requirements on the vicroads site. The inspection. The bike did not come off the trailer nor was it started. They checked the rear light worked, glowed a bit more if a brake was applied and had a few white leds for the plate. It needed to have a horn, which they did not test (after running around to borrow one). It also needed to have a RHS mirror on. A general look over and a check of engine and VIN numbers and thats that. Stamp duty and all other bits came to $216.
If your new to re reging a bike it pays to check the vicroads web page, or give them a call to make sure your paperwork is complete.
Oh, I asked about the demise of rec. reg and the bloke who served me had not heard of any rumors to that effect.

Well done, it’s always one of those things that has you a little worried. Asking yourself, did I miss anything? Will they start it? Will they find it’s a stolen bike? That sort of thing but when it’s done you wonder why you worried they don’t seam to care much at all.
I know when I took an 80cc minibike for Rec Reg I was prepared for the question of why Reg a minibike, the question never came, the bike wasn't started, and he just went through the motions!

Pete (and Tim),

Regarding the $216.00 you paid. Is that the annual fee, or was there a component in there for getting the bike reg'd in the first place?

If not, what do you expect the annual fee to be?

Hey Serge,

I just paid the annual RECREG fee for my WR250 and it came to a whopping $68.30 :-)

The $216 would have included appointment fees and a fee for the rego plate etc.

I hope they don't get rid of rec reg as it will make people think twice about getting into the sport, I know that I couldn't afford full reg and the difference between full and rec reg can buy a LOT of beers and bike bits...

Actually the total was $299.60!

TAC Premium of $55 + $5.50 GST on that
Reg. Fee of $7.80
Plate Fee $15.30
Stamp Duty of $216 thats on $5,350

Gee, that stamp must be bloody special!!

Yearly fee will be $68.30 methinks
