G'day Nathan,
Fantastic to hear Sam has decided to get a bike; looking forward to riding with her!!!!  . Boots, love my new Sidi Crossfires, very comfy & easy to clip on & off with great ankle support which was my #1 priority. I got mine at AMX; they seem to have a good range of stuff or even Peter Stevens Ferntree Gully is good if a sale is on.
Female Body Armour I can't really advice as I wear an O'Neil blokes pressure mesh top, which has the back, chest, shoulder, elbow & lower arm all in one. Have had it for 4+ years & seems to have saved me quite a few times & hasn't fallen apart yet 
The cheapish plastic knee guards work for me. I can show you on Saturday at Al's ride if you like.

No i haven't taken to cross dressing ( well not out on the trails anyway )
My better half is getting a bike and i want some advice from our female riders on what gear you use and like and what to stay away from.
Mainly boots and armour.
All advice appreciated.
Particularly which shops stock the most womens gear.
And Pete no transvestite jokes if you can resist!!

I use an alpinestars neck brace, Leatt body armour (apparently....Paul is on his way back from BikeMart with my new pressure suit at the moment), (in the past I have used one of Paul's old Fox Pressure suits but it didn't go that well with a neck brace so changing). I have fox gloves with knuckle guards, Titan (I think) knee guards and white alpinestars Tech 8 boots. Socks from AMX - ladies fox I think.  I also wear a skins type longsleeved undershirt, oh and a sports bra for the bumpy sections!
Basically, I am kitted out in the knowledge that I tend to topple off now and then but being well protected, particularly with pressure suit and neck brace and a comfy One helmet gives me more confidence. I used to have a Leatt GPX Adventure II neck brace but found it a bit restrictive and limited my range of vision when going downhill.  I used the alpinestars one for the first time on Saturday and it was brilliant.  The Atlas neck brace looks good too (have only tried in shop, not out on the bike).
Lastly, I can highly recommend the KTM 350 Freeride too! If you want to have another go (in case it is an option for Sam), just give Paul or I a shout!

Thanks for that Annie, Sam prety much bought everything last weekend, oneal boots and knee guards, fox gloves and body armour, the pressure suit type.
She is going to get a lighter helmet than the one she has now.
Thanks for the offer of another go of the 350, it's definately an option for Sam.
