Could'nt agree with you more Frankie. Back in 1976 at the Aust TT held at Laverton air base I chased world champion Agostini (with a bit of slip streaming) on his 500 MV four off the line for about a quarter of a lap on my Barry Sheene production works 500 Suzuki twin. I can still hear the howl from those 4 un-muffled megaphones and had to say to myself "yes, this is really happening - now concentrate" I held second for half a lap then got slowly swamped by the just launched Suzuki square fours.
I got a chance to listen to the MV again when he lapped me with 2 laps to go. Ago finished second to Kenny Blake with me 8th.
Awesome stuff there Ken, I didn't know that you did road racing, I was there as a spectator, I always wanted to do road racing, but a couple of kid came along to early, so could never afford to do it, I couldn't really afford to do dirt bike racing either, but I managed to fined the $$$$$ to do it. That meeting at Laverton brings back some memories, the coarse was a simple one, they put hey bales in the center off the runways so they went up one side to the end & came back on the other side, from memory the course was shaped a bit like a T.
Anyway, it was a hot day, so this bloke decided that the spectators needed to be entertained between the races, so he ran stark naked across the track, I think he forgot that the tar was very hot & had to run as fast as he could, in doing so he tripped over the hey bales in the middle and fell in a heap on the other side of em, he then got up as quick as he could and ran to the other side where the ppl made a opening to let him through,It was bloody funny, yes he did provide some entertainment for us, it would have bean much better if a female had of joined him
The days racing was fantastic I enjoyed it very much, I must say tho, I enjoyed Colder raceway better, that was Ago's first appearance here in Aus.
