Title: GDay! Post by: Cyrus on December 08, 2008, 01,20:51 AM GDay everyone!
Well be prepared to be answering some really dumb questions if you dare to read on :D My son and I went camping out on a property about 1.5hours south-west of Rocky a couple of weekends ago and mates of mine and their kids brought out some 50cc bikes for the kids. We have been invited to go back and camp out on the property whenever they go out, which is often. After getting used to it, my son had a blast, and now am seriously thinking of purchasing either a 50 or a 70 for him and a 250 for myself for use out there. He's not that tall and was ok on the 50, he had a couple of big stacks, but nothing broken, so was thinking of getting him something that he can grow a bit into, and why not get something I can use to go for a ride with him at the same time. Was thinking brand new so that we can grab helmets and riding gear at the same time. Not having ridden trail bikes before, I have absolutely nfi about them, so was wondering where do I start? What questions should I be asking about what types of bikes? The bike I buy will probably only be used offroad, and most probably will not be ridden on the road, so dont need to worry about registering it I guess, here in QLD? Also probably don't want something that I will kill myself on, but enough so that when my son grows out of the 70, he can hop onto something a bit bigger, so don't know if a 250 is too big for me or not? I am sure there are heaps of other things I have not yet considered, so if this is the wrong place to be asking these questions, please feel free to point me in the direction of where I should be asking them. Cheers, Cy Title: Re: GDay! Post by: Aaron on December 08, 2008, 09,19:37 PM Have a look at the Yamaha TT-r range or bikes. Something there for everyone.

Also try looking at Puzey XTR, which looks like a decent Chinese bike and they are cheap, the MX non registerable version is something like $3.5K new.
Spend more on the protective gear than the bike, things like body armour, knee guards/braces, boots and gloves in addition to the helmet. It will more than pay for itself when, not if, you come off the bike. Good luck looking for a bike that suits you. |
