Hi, Not to sure on the muffler but theres a little grey wire at the head stem or under the petrol tank. if you cut it it will make it into the yz ingition curve and give you more power for no $$$$ But i surjuest putting a switch in for when you fill up and cannot get premium unleaded...
I havent done it but theres a few guys in the club that have, allen who leads the fumina rides has done it to his 250...
to change the muffle will probly take torque away from the motor, a bad thing on a 250

I can't imagine that you'd need more berries out of one of these bikes! They go like the clappers straight out of the box. I have no suggestions about after market mufflers other than to say, go for the quietest one. The WR is a relatively quite bike standard, and it would be good to keep it that way.
Dave's comment about the 'grey wire treatment' is worth looking at.
More ground - less sound.
Enjoy!

Hi guys, Having just bought a full exhaust system, for my 08 wr 250 after a lot of research on the internet and talking to yamaha, i went with a DEP S7 hush enduro system which is 94 db and legal world wide, it has the power bomb in the header pipe and let me tell you the system has really livened the bike up. The system hasn't changed the bottom end power delivery but the mid range and top end power have improved dramatically, which is great for long hill climbs and staying with bigger bikes in the open stuff. Along with the power now carb splitters throttle response and power gains have been incredible. On long climbs i can now hold gears and just roll on and off the throttle and easily keep the bike in the meat of the power instead of kicking down gears and running out of legs towards the top of the climb. People who have ridden my bike before and after the modifications were amazed at the difference. Initially i was going to go with an fmf system but some owners of that system turned me off because they said it was excessively noisy. Hope my ramblings have helped.

thanks guys,
great info on the Yz grey wire, will certainly try that one tomorrow, run premium on both bikes but wil certainly install the switch.
Might hold off on the exhaust for a while see how that mod goes. DEP S7 will be the first onei look at again though.
will see you guys shortly, will change from rec to full reg first.
