I had a good time as always in the 12 hour on my IT 175 G 1980 model I managed to finish my 3rd event and this year I came 13th in the ironman which I was happy with considering I had only 2 rides in 12 months and only 1 ride in the 7 months before the event, plus I am 135kg and 45y
.
For me I just ride at half pace or less it is the only way to get to the end of the 12 hour and as for the fast blokes there was more of them this year than in the passed and I suspect this 12hour event is going to turn into yet another one for all the gun riders and the weekend worriors will give it a miss, I hope I am wrong and it stays a event for the every day punters.
As for going back next year I heard on the grape vine that there will only be 4 man teams & mixed there will be no ironman class to try and get numbers down on the track at anyone time, if this turns out to be the case then I will not be riding as I only like doing the event in ironman class.
Cheers Mick.
Great effort Mick and congrats on finishing your 3rd 12hr and on the 13th placing!
I hope you're wrong about no ironman and pairs, because if that is the case i won't be going back.
I wouldn't like to do the 12hr in a 4 person team and i won't drive 9 hrs for 3 hrs of riding.
From my perspective after doing the 12 hr, the amount of bikes on the track is a non issue as it was only busy for the first 4 hrs, then after that the track was fairly quiet although the pace didn't drop off. Around about lunch time there was plenty of people packing up and leaving.
They should just cap the entrys for all classes to suit the acceptable amount of bikes on the track at any one time.
But i suppose what do you expect from a group of people that rate bikes in shootouts based on who puts on the best junket for them.
