Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Zeb Colic on July 15, 2011, 09,36:26 AM I use Motul 800......$129 for 4L Yep the best without doubt ..... ;D Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Ian Robinson on July 15, 2011, 09,39:15 AM Castrol Powerstroke TTS. Use it in the bike, chain saws, brush cutters and Honda lawnmower, all at 50:1. When I had a pertol car the old fuel went into that as well. Have used it since it first came out and never had a problem with it.
Cost - cant remember, what ever AMTRA used to sell it at however it is around $70.00 for 4 litres at Supercheap. I also use Castrol mineral based 2 stroke at 200:1 in my diesel ute but am not game to put it into our VW car. He stumbled across it when some of his mates raced hattah and hes now a great fan of it. He does sell motul but doesnt necessarily recommend it because some believe its over rated (i cant remember if he also said it was over rated but i have heard that from some others)

Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: AL on July 18, 2011, 10,40:30 AM The oil ain't that important for the PE Serge. The real hassle is going to be finding fuel with lead in it!

He does sell motul but doesnt necessarily recommend it because some believe its over rated (i cant remember if he also said it was over rated but i have heard that from some others) I have used Motul 800 since new and just pulled the engine down for its first top end rebuild , ran it for 4600klm should have done it at 3000 but hey better late than ever. Inside of the cylinder walls look great , the power valve linkages and try rods are clean without any goo on them , ports and underside of the head look great so i cant comment on the other brands but Motul is now a proven product for me and i will stick with it. Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Peter r on July 18, 2011, 11,44:36 AM I had a RMX 250 back in 99, i ran TTS and never opened the motor, i sold it with over 10k on it, and the guy who brought it from me did another 4 k and then did a Top End Rebuild.
It Doesn't matter if you use TTS or Motul Etc, it's all got to do with Keeping the Air filter clean !!! Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Ken R on July 19, 2011, 03,56:27 AM My PE250B ran for 13 years on Castrol TTS with out a rebore. From memory 1 new piston and 2 sets of rings. Trick is to replace the piston before it gets sloppy and flogs the bore.
My KDX200 ran for 7 years on TTS, 1 set of rings after my Son siezed it. Keep the air cleaner oiled, sitting correctly ie no dirty air leaks, as for keeping it clean - dirt on the outside is fine, don't over clean it, every time you wash the filter the pores open up a bit and eventually they start to loose their shape. Do you really need lead in petrol for a 2 stroke? Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: AL on July 19, 2011, 10,19:29 AM Ken's right dont really need lead in petrol for 2 strokes, you can always run them on desiel?
Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Dirtpilot72 on July 19, 2011, 10,21:40 AM What do you need banger oil for? Well Aaronie, thanks for asking. I am interested in what you 2 stroke owners pay for and use as i may be able to obtain some high end oil in bulk (20 liter) and everyone bring a 4 liter container to fill up. I think it could work out to a $10 per liter saving, possibly more. Before you ask what brand, sorry, after what happend to the bulk Bridgestone deal with some idiot flapping their gums about it and ruining it for everyone. This deal will only be available to trusted members. The brand is top quality. Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Mat R on July 20, 2011, 01,22:23 AM Wasn't leaded petrol for 4T motor car engines to help preserve valve life? Now older cars have a lead replacement valve saver additive that has to go in with the unleaded premium fuel. Maybe I should get some for the CRF?
Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Ken R on July 20, 2011, 04,50:15 AM Exactly right Mat. As for the CRF - sell it. Ha Ha
Title: Re: 2 Stroke oil Post by: Mat R on July 20, 2011, 06,33:48 AM Who in their right mind would buy a CRF? I am pretty sure I was not in my right mind when I bought it.
