Hello everyone my names jay I'm from the south east suburb of wantirna
I've recently Bought myself a dirtbike and have been riding every chance I can over the last 6 weeks get to learn the skills of becoming a confident rider, I have never owned a bike and only ridden mates bikes in the past on camping trips. I'm a quick learner, being only 25 the one thing I worry about is fitting in with everyone assuming that everyone else is 30+
My bike is rec reg yz450 2013  on my Ls.
I know I may have gone all out on the bike and I maybe should of started with an older 250 but poo happens..
It would be great if someone could fill me in on what I should expect and how to go about going on my first ride in a group,
Ps do I have to pay to join the club before I can tag along for a ride or two
Cheers jb

Jay,
you are welcome to try a couple of club rides to see if AMTRA is a club for you. We do have some younger members however they are pretty good riders so you may not get to ride with them for a while.
I would look out for the Marysville ride run by Phil and it is a good ride to start on and also the Daylesford days where many club members turn up and you get to meet a lot of other members.

We have a monthly meeting tomorrow night in Doncaster however it is our annual general meeting and there is bit more club business to attend to than normal.

So many questions.....where to start?

Firstly, welcome to AMTRA.  Will you fit in?  You own/ride a dirt bike, so....YES!

Rec Reg will limit you a little bit, but AMTRA ride leaders will mention wether their rides are suitable for rec reg, so keep your eye out for a suitable ride.

We generally allow you to go on 2 or 3 "try before you buy" rides, so put your name down for one and see how you go.  It's always a good idea to contact the ride leader first, to introduce yourself and get any further info you might need.

Enjoy!

Wouldn't worry too much about your age or riding experience as AMTRA members are generally very welcoming regardless of age and a ride at lvl 1 or 2 should let you get a feel for where you fit. I'm getting a little older and I've never felt out of place or unwelcome. Come and join in and see for yourself (by the way you'll always be looked after with AMTRA)

Well what a great response makes me feel a lot more at ease coming to my first ride I can't wait... It's not so good riding by your self and I know it's not if I fall off but when and I would defiantly rather be around other riders! To learn skills I can't teach myself I look forward to meeting you all just look out the the Peter Stevens decal bike at the back of the pack  Tongue
