Title: Stradbroke and surrounds. Level 2+ Saturday 4th May.
Post by: johnny d on March 23, 2013, 10,36:14 PM
Stradbroke and surrounding areas, Approx 160-170 km for the day, lunch on the trail,, a fuel drop is planned at the lunch area which will be aprox. half distance,, 2T riders there will be a measuring jug available and suitable container to pre-mix your fuel in, all you need to bring is your own 2t oil..
The ride will leave from Toms Cap Road (off Lays Rd) which is off the Traralgon to Yarram road on the Highland Highway(google Toms Cap Winery or phone me for directions),, Lays rd is aprox 2 hours from Pakenham just head down the Princes Freeway towards Morwell..
The ride terrain is mainly flat with an interesting gully system to keep you on your toes,, there is also plenty of woopps to test your fitness and also a lot of narrow disused 4x4 trails,,part of this ride is on tracks that were used in the A4DE back in the early 90's I have been told .. You WILL need to be BIKE FIT to ride here.
On the bikes at 9am sharp, we will be back when we are back.
You need to bring -- A reliable well maintained bike.
-- Tools, spare tube and tyre levers.
                   -- Lunch, full hydration pack.
-- Enough fuel for the distance OR talk to me about a fuel drop..(98 octane and the going pump price)
-- A high level of bike fitness.

Phone me on 0427760589 for any info.
( Bob has offered to lead a convoy from Loy Yang power station to the off loading area if enough interest is shown, please indicate this in your reply).
RIDE DISTANCE COULD BE APPROX 40 KM SHORTER DUE TO D.S.E FUEL REDUCTION BURNS IN THE AREA.
I will hang AMTRA signs from Lays Rd/ Toms Cap Rd intersection to the off loading area (aprox 1km) .....

You do know that this ride is off road so it will be bumpy and you will get dirty? Just don't want you to turn up expecting a smooth track and to go round and round in a circle for 40 minutes!!  ;D ;D

Johnny, With the reduced distance will there still be a fuel drop? No fuel drop means I go to Daylesford that's all .
By the way if there is a fuel drop, I will probably need 8 litres which I'm happy to supply myself if the fuel drop is done on the morning of the ride.
