Update 3 Dec:
The Alpine Road and surrounds.
Friday 10 Dec to Sunday 12 Dec.
Ride up on Friday night to meet at accomodation in the Bright area. On Saturday ride via Falls Ck to Omeo, then down the Alpine Rd past Swifts Ck then turn around after the twisties stop and return to Swifts Ck. After some refreshment, return to accomodation via Hotham. May do this loop in reverse.
Have a meal Sat night at the pub and some more refreshments before turning in for the night. Sunday head back via the most interesting roads we can find.
Accomodation at the Porpunkah Pub. $55 for Fri night with a cooked breakfast on Sat morning. $80 for Sat night with dinner and the cooked breakfast. Shared rooms for 5, 2 doubles and a twin have been provisionally booked. More can be booked if needed provided there is room (they presently have no other bookings).
Please confirm you are coming by 19 Nov. Once confirmed you may have to pay for accomodation whether you make it or not on the weekend. I will also need to know if you intend to stay both nights. If coming up Sat morning you need to be there by 9:30 a.m.
I will go regardless of weather, I have a Dririder oversuit that worked well in the downpour last year and we had dry spells for some good riding. Don't let a little rain or potential heat wave put you off.
Plan around 1000 km for the weekend, maybe more, maybe less. All sealed roads.
All road bike types welcome, not a race.

I'm in Mat, this ride starts a day after my 64th birthday, bloody hell, where's the time gone,The big 1000cc Honda really needs the cobwebs blown out, I'll have to wait for some back roads  I hope my wrist will be ok, riding a sports bike on the speed limit puts a lot of weight on ya wrist, could be a bit tricky when your throttle hand goes a bit numb |

What a day, you couldn't ask for better, with this road ride coming up, I was wondering how my wrist would hold up,I decided to take the roadie for a spin to my brothers place in Berwick using the back roads from here in Heathmont. On Wednesday I put new chain & sprockets on ready for the ride, it was good to get on the roadie again, the wrist felt good, looking forward to this ride, I hope & pray that the weather will be kind to us.

I won't be able to leave work until 1ish, but I would be able to meet up in say Mansfield at 5 or 6 pm. If we get a time to meet in Mansfield happening that would be great, otherwise Porpunkah pub when we get there.

Hey Frankie I went through there on Friday the 3rd and came back that way on the 5th and it was fine then. There was a fair bit of loose rubble on some of the bends that was washed across the road from all the rain so keep your eyes wide open. |
