AMTRA.com.au

President Paul from AMTRA NSW is proposing a weekend ride to get the Victorian and New South Wales members together.  The event will be held at Holbrook, in conjunction with the Holbrook Motorcycle Sports Club.  The format will be as follows:

•   Proposed Date: 3 & 4 September
•   Location: Holbrook NSW (386km from Melbourne & 492km from Sydney)
•   Arrival time: Friday 2nd September, 5 – 10 pm.
•   Accommodation: Holbrook Settlers Motel (holbrooksettlersmotel.com)
•   Accommodation Cost: $35 per person per night including continental breakfast. Total 32 rooms.
•   Ride Location Saturday: Woomargama National Park and surrounds, 40 minutes from Holbrook.
•   Saturday Ride Details: 160-180km of mixed trails including some single track, 2 x Support Vehicles, BBQ lunch and fuel stop. AMTRA to provide 1 support vehicle.
•   Saturday Dinner: BBQ dinner at motel with local guys.
•   Sunday Ride Details: Local Holbrook private property, 16km single track enduro loop used for competition enduro event. Ride until you drop!
•   Departure: Early Sunday afternoon or earlier.
•   Cost: TBA, Approx $100-$120 per person.
•   Number of NSW/VIC AMTRA riders: 30 + 10-20 local riders.

The event is still in planning stage, but expressions of interested from our Vic members is needed.  It will be a 'members only' ride. It will be limited to 30 (of us), with a stand-by list, so let us know if you're interested and we'll put you on the list.

Just spoke to Mr Lacy and he predicts about 50 or so coming to this AMTRA Spectacular Event.

Ken Robinson has also expressed interest however he  seems to not be able to access the AMTRA web site at present.

Please note the following:

• The ride organiser is myself so please direct any queries you have about the weekend to me and I will do my best to answer them. Feel free to ask any questions via Serge if you prefer.
• We have changed the motel from that originally planned. More details to come. Please do not contact the motel directly. 
• This weekend will be fully organised and catered and riders will not need to be concerned with the arrangements for accommodation, food and payment of any deposits.
• As the ride is still some months away, planning is still in process. We will provide detailed ride information in the coming weeks.
• We will be asking for a deposit once all the cost details are calculated. This deposit will be payable to AMTRA and not directly to the motel and is likely not to be required until sometime in August.

Things are coming together for the ride. The ride course has been set by Murray in Holbrook. The cost has been set at $140 per head.

This includes:

• Friday & Saturday Night Motel Accommodation (Twin Share)
• Snacks on Friday Night
• Saturday Hot Breakfast
• Burgers and drinks for lunch on the ride on Saturday
• Post Ride Snacks
• Saturday BBQ Dinner
• Sunday Hot Breakfast
• Support Vehicles Costs

Deposits will be due in the first week of August. Details to follow soon.

Please note that Sunday is Fathers Day so Dads will need to make arrangements for a Fathers Day Dinner instead of Breakfast. :) :)

Also, the motel restaurant and bar will be closed so it is BYO Alcohol and drinks. There are plenty of places to buy supplies in Holbrook if you forget.

The ride course has been set and the venue is ready for an influx of "well behaved" dirt bikers. We will be staying at Byer Fountain Motor Inn, Corner Bath Street and Hume Highway, Holbrook. Please do not contact the motel directly. All accomodation details are being handled by the ride organisers.

You will need to bring:

• BYO Drinks for Friday and Saturday Nights
• A chair to sit around the fire/heaters
• 10 litres of fuel per rider. Try and share a 20 litre jerry between 2.
• The usual ride spares, tools, tubes and ride snacks. Saturday Lunch is provided.
• Teddy Bears

Don't forget that one of the main objectives of the weekend is to get the clubs together and socialize and the Saturday ride will not be hard but lots of fun. For the hard core riders, you can cut loose on Sunday on the Holbrook Leaping Log Enduro 11km single track course.

A few questions.
What's the car parking like at the motel, a whole lot of cars with bike trailers, is that going to be a problem?
Are we still doing the 160 - 180km ride on the Saturday as it says in the first post?
Do we drive from the motel to the start location Saturday and what is the ride start time?
How many NSW AMTRA members are going?

From memory there was a fair amount of space at the Byer motor inn, but been a while since I have gone past.

"Ride Location Saturday: Woomargama National Park and surrounds, 40 minutes from Holbrook." Which sounds like on the trailer for me. Also will need FULL reg on the bikes as rec reg expires outside VIC.

If anyone is looking to share a ride I will be leaving from Port Melbourne area hopefully around 3 p.m. There is space there for parking in a secure underground car park. I could pick someone up on the northerly run out of the city.

Unfortunately I am a non starter for this one.

A bit more general info to answer some of the questions.

• The Saturday ride is still around 160kms.
• Ride Leader is Murray Jones (Holbrook)
• Parking - Who cares. Holbrook is a big place
• The ride start point has changed and is about 20mins drive from Holbrook. Leave bikes on trailers Friday night
• Sunday ride is just up the road.
• Ride start around 9:00am
• We currently have 9 riders from Sydney + 8 from Holbrook + about 25 from Vic. Total so far is about 42
• If Vic riders keep pulling out, NSW will out number you!!
• What Peter R and I do with our bellies behind closed doors is our business

I don't need to know, I married a bank worker years ago - lot's of advantages - Oh Yeh, she can cook as well.

I paid like I said I did on 23/8/11 and I just happened to check the bank account and the funds were sent back. Hows that for rebound. Pity it wasn't double ya back. 1st thought was COOL !!!  Then 2nd thought kicked in and yep I sent to the wrong BSB. Not so cool. Fixed now and just resent. Sorry about that.

Sorry I can't make it for two reasons its Fathers day on the Sunday and I only have Vic Rec reg, no good in NSW.

Here is the forecast link looks nice 6 to 18 Friday and Saturday under a mix of sun and cloud across the two days.
