Title: AMTRA Old Banger Duro Pubman @ Neerim Sth 5/6/10 Post by: Willbar on May 13, 2010, 10,42:25 PM Level 2 ride Neerim South.
Ok this is it the first AMTRA Old Banger Duro, Ok one catch you must attend on a registered bike either full or rec reg that is at least 15 years old or older and no electric starters kick or push only ? Not quite Vinduro but AMTRA Old Banger Duro, could be tiring but a good laugh and hopefully not on me. it should be an easy level 2 ride with a good lunch at the pub with plenty of bench racing. It will be a morning ride with lunch at the pub after. If you have a bike of 15 years of age or older then dust her off and give her a service and come and join us for a morning of memories of why we upgrade our bikes. This is a very social ride, with plenty of stops, and Lunch at the Neerim Sth Pub after the ride. If you have not thrown a leg over your old bike for a while stop making excuses and put your name down and come a long for lots of laughs and bull dust stories and remeber why you are in such a great club. If you want 2 attend this ride I need to know sooner than later so I can book our spot at the Pub. Ok for the ride, this is not a beginners ride but if you have done a few level 1 level 2 AMTRA rides with out to much problems and with good pace you should be fine on this one. We meet at the DSE Latrobe River Rd Trail Bike unloading Saturday the 5th of June 8.am for a 8.30am start onto the trails and back 2 the cars for 12.30 and into the Pub for 1pm. Rec Reg welcome. Full tank of fuel. Plenty of fluid for hydraition. Nothing too hard a nice cruisy ride with a few small steep ups and downs but mainly open trails and maybe a couple of goat tracks thrown in depending on who comes along. We should be all packed up, and sitting down in the Neerim Sth Pub ,for some serious bench racing by 1pm lunch. If your coming and for directions(see attached Latrobe TVA map) For the guys who have not been to Neerim before I will meet you at the East bound BP on Princes Hwy at Long Warry for 7.15am for a 7.30am departure from the BP. Note I will be parked at the rear of the servo in the truck parking bays. The servo is around 15 minutes past the last Pakenham turn off and it is just inside the 80klm speed zone. contact Will 0414354317 1. Will, 1992 Honda XR600. Pub Yes 2. Ok with only 6 more sleeps till the old banger duro and looking forward to it as much as any ride and maybe just a little more after just taking the old 600 for a blast around the block. But it was not just a case of start it up and go. After going to see the hobbit in Hospital with Pommy Mat Got home just after 3 had some lunch and went and got some fuel for the old girl. As the tank was almost empty I filled her up and drained the fuel bowl, kicked it a few times and one small fire. Checked the choke, yep she was on full, opened it up slightly but still no reel fire just run for a few moments but roughly. Ok time to drain the lower bit of the tank in case the fuel is stale fired but ran worse. Ok changed the plug six more kicks started the ran rough and stopped. Turned the choke all the way of more and more kicking but still nothing, aw better with choke on kicked some more fire and stopped, Checked exhaust bung nup took that out already, hey drain the fuel bowl once more , filled the bowl with carby cleaner still looks clean, removed spark arrestor from muffler just incase it was blocked, tried a few more kicks with half choke very fourth after sitting for a few moments she would fire but run rough, thinking to myself well this is going to be a good week, carby strip and clean out, tappet adjustment, new spark plug aw one more try started and ran a bit longer no choke but looked back as it was running and black smoke from exhaust, running rich I know what that is caused buy checked the choke and although leaver was off choke stuck closed, pushed open with screw driver reset he leaver kicked her into instant life and off I went, running magic can not wait but just spent 2 1/2 hrs getting there but will be worth it. if you have a bike that qualifies and still thinking of coming get your name down and come for a blast from the past and some fun. Remember pump up your tyre's checked your fluids and chain and sprockets and lets go.
