Title: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: Brad on May 30, 2011, 11,02:04 PM Saturday 8th of October 2011 L1/L2.
Meet at 8.30am for 9am on the bikes the tracks will be a mix of flow, ups and downs, narrow and no river crossings. As this is a level 1 to 2 ride please respect your fellow riders, remembering we all have to start and learn somewhere. Take care if overtaking and if you are taking it easy try to keep a left line to allow for people to pass. Whatever you do ride at your own pace this is not a race just a good day out with some mates who all want the fun and to get home safe. P.S. The bike in front always has right of way. Fuel for 120K's minimum NO fuel is available in the ride area. Fuel drop can be arranged just need a volunteer to drop off the cans and another to pick them up later. It's a 20min round trip to drop off the fuel via the bitumen. Lunch will be on the trails, Rec Reg welcome. Start location is the T junction of Mt Baw Baw Tourist Rd and Vesper Rd. Please Note two things the Vesper Rd I am referring to is a RHT at the top of the hill on the C426 MT Baw Baw Tourist Rd as you head from Noojee to Mt Baw Baw. There is NO sign post it is best identified as a RED clay cutting entrance. If you go to far down the Mt Baw Baw road you will hit the next T junction of the C465 Fumina Rd on RHS so turn around go back up the hill and take the first Road on the LHS being Vesper Rd. Note some locals and maps also call this section of Vesper Rd, Ferguson Rd. See attached map for more details. If you are not confident finding the place and come the same way I do up the Princess Hwy from Melbourne; I stop to get a coffee and meet people at the Longwarry BP servo about 7.10am and leave after 10mins at 7.20pm. We park out the back where the trailer parking is. Call me to come on this or any of my rides Brad 0428580900 Ride Lists for all my rides have been migrated to the actual ride list that will be used on the day and those attending will no longer be shown as one list on the AMTRA web site. You can come this is not a true beginners ride it is a L1/L2. In other words if your friend has mastered riding the bike on a dirt road and now wants to try and manage up and down terrain, varying track conditions and getting over and around obstructions then perfect that's L1 trail riding. Feel free to call me if required otherwise if the person is up to the task bring them along. If you have had thoughts about doing ride leading or tailman and are unsure of what it entails or your capability have a think about the following: On Saturday I will facilitate "ON Ride" mentoring for a second ride leader and tailman. How this will work is there will be an experienced ride leader and tailman on the day with a second leader and tailman appointed who will take on lite duties whilst being mentored during the ride. I will be asking for volunteers for these secondary positions on Saturday which do need to be filled for the ride to run well. Please have a think about volunteering? P.S> All riders are empowered during AMTRA rides to help each another or offer tips as and when appropriate; assisting the leaders and the tailmen on the day. Regards, Brad Title: Re: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: flipper on October 03, 2011, 11,11:06 PM Folks, If you have had thoughts about doing ride leading or tailman and are unsure of what it entails or your capability have a think about the following: On Saturday I will facilitate "ON Ride" mentoring for a second ride leader and tailman. For those who are coming will be a great day, you will meet allot of other members on this ride and I will do my best to make it run smoothly. BTW over the next few days please go over your bike with a fine tooth comb to ensure it is as reliable as possible this will also keep the ride flowing. If you can't make it pls post up your disappointment however these spots will NOT be back filled. I realise this depends on riding style, terrain, etc. but I'm just trying to work out roughly how much extra fuel to bring for the 120kms. I don't believe my stock tank (8.6L) would get me to 120km. Maybe 100km...? Any advice much appreciated. George Title: Re: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: Mat R on October 06, 2011, 10,51:35 PM Does anyone know approx range of a 2010 CRF450x? Maybe 100km...? Any advice much appreciated. George Hey George, on the WR450 on moderate throttle I have got 130 km to bone dry. I would expect at least 100 km from the tank and for a 120 km ride I would take 2lt in the back pack to empty into the tank after the first 30km. On a Level 1/2 ride I would not expect the terrain to demand heavy throttle and to get 120 out of a tank. The extra fuel would just be insurance. I also get similar on the CRF250X and would do the same. The other option is to make sure you always ride ahead of the people with big tanks. ;D Title: Re: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: Willbar on October 06, 2011, 10,59:52 PM Does anyone know approx range of a 2010 CRF450x? I realise this depends on riding style, terrain, etc. but I'm just trying to work out roughly how much extra fuel to bring for the 120kms. I don't believe my stock tank (8.6L) would get me to 120km. Maybe 100km...? Any advice much appreciated. Just need a volunteer(s) to drop the cans off and pick them up? Its a 20min round trip on the tar to the drop point. Title: Re: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: georgesanos on October 07, 2011, 02,03:38 AM Cheers guys, thanks for the tips..
I'll plan accordingly. See you on Sat morning. George Title: Re: AMTRA Noojee L1/L2 Members and Guests Post by: Brad on October 07, 2011, 03,25:29 AM Couple of items have come up for me to pass on.
We have a volunteer for the fuel drop be there no later than 8.30 if you want fuel left at the 70km mark. NOTE the BP servo is on the LHS at Longwarry just before the Drouin turnoff NOT the new one you will pass earlier around Pakenham. Finally look out for this AMTRA arrow pointing to the entrance of Vesper Rd off the Mt Baw Baw tourist Rd. This is where we park, will also put one on the car where you sign up for the ride. Parking will be tight, please make room for others.
