Ok once a year we put a great weekend on for the general public at our club property so I thought it would be nice to put one on just for the club and its members.
There will be two rides , a level 1 /2 and a level 2 / clubman.
The rides will be taking place on Saturday the 19th of November leaving the property at 8.30am. The first should cover a distance of around 180klm with a refuel and lunch at Harritville. The level will be level 2 to low end clubman with assistance but you will need a reliable bike and be bike fit. There will be river crossings no doubt and big ups and downs and very rocky terain and if we are lucky some mud but most likely lots of dust.
The level 1 / 2 ride run on the same day for the less experienced or less bike fit members should leave around 9.30am but I just need to find a leader for this one but that should not be hard and should be around 90klm in length possible creek crossings but no river crossings for them riders who are scared of water.
As I would class this event as a club social event the social budget will partially sponsor the weekend buy putting on a club barby on saturday night for dinner so I would invite all club members to attend the weekend even if not able to do the ride we would still love to have you along but remember to bring your sense of humour and smile.
Camping is of coarse expected so if you do not know the club set up then please ask. Its not being run as a family weekend but of coarse if you want to bring your family along then you are most welcome to.
And perhaps the NSW guys might like to join us in return for there hospitality at this years combined event.
You will need to cater for your self for the rest of your stay at our club property but there is a barby and stove there now and you can have camp fires in the provided fire bins.
Please feel free to call me for further info or to find out what ride you are suitable for etc.
This is the first time that I am aware of such an event being run from our club property and would love to see it as an annual event but without the support of our members then it will not happen so please support this event. When u post back with your reply please let me know which ride you wish to go on.
Due to catering for this event including food and ride support sweep riders the entrys for this event close on the 1/11/11 so please let me know ASAP but please no pull outs at the last minute as this can be worce than having no entrys so only put your name down if you are serious about attending. Is this it, no one else wants to come along and enjoy our clubs property and surounding country side and be part of a great ride and take the oportunity to catch up with some of your fellow club members. Carn members pull your fingers out and get yourselfs organized to get along to support what could b a great annual event. I hear people complaining all the time that not enough of our members get use out of Abbeyard, well hear is the perfect chance, get yourself organized and do some car and trailer pulling to cut down the costs of getting there and back and get along and help make this one of them most talked about weekends.
This may even turn into a welcome back Frankie ride if we can talk his doctor into letting him swing a leg over. There is no limited rider numbers for this weekend so there is plenty of room available.
So if you have been to Abbeyard before you all ready know how nice a place it is, and if you havent, then get along and see it for yourself, remember hot showers and long drop dunnys and a very big shed to hang out inn and a great river if you need to cool down.

Please note it will be Rec Reg at own risk as we will be going into town for fuel and lunch and the L1/2 ride will be using roads not designated for Rec Reg.

This is my main concern, as the YZ only has rec reg.

Apart from going into town (where I could perhaps push the bike in), how much other 'non-rec reg' riding is there in the L2/Clubman ride?

*** Edited to say that my OH has just reminded me of a previous booking - something to do with wine and chisels...So it looks like I miss out on seeing Abbeyard for the moment ***

For members who wish to come along on the L2 Clubman ride with only Rec Reg, we can limit your travel on no rec reg roads as long as you are prepaired to carry enough fuel and food on your back, but for the rest we will ride into Harietville for fuel and lunch. The L1 L2 ride should not really be an issue as your time on non rec reg road is very minamalistic.

Awe the numbers are starting to dwindle already, with some of my so called riding buddies opting out for easier rides, soft I say, soft.
Anyway if anyone else wants to get on board stick your name on the lists as the entrys close in just a few days time.
The planned route will be the same as the 2010 HCR ride....

Can u ask him to fit extra heavy duty tubes to his bike as the last time we did this ride he had a few flats and we got to have ice cream whilst he fixed them.
