Where have all the real Men Gone Awww Injured or hiding out on L1 / L2 Rides, I here people say that there is not enough rides on, we need more variety, so I put on what will be a ripper ride in even better weather of 24C and there's only 3 of us now. Grin
Grin Seriously, this is not a dummy spit, just a bit of tong in cheek, but I do not really mind as small groups flow well, but I must update everyone on the latest, weather forecast is predicting only 24C perfect riding weather, the plan is to ride to Licola on the West side of the Mcallister River, have lunch and refuel at Licola and if you only have Rec reg this bit will be at your own risk, and then return on the east side down Mnt Margaret Tk back to Chanyes Bridge. So if you are L2 and above rider and are up for a high country adventure riding at your own pace then get your name down. Chaynes bridge is only 1.45mins from Pakenham so its not as far away as folks think.
Yes there will be steep hills, big erosion mounds, rocks, river crossing, but if you love the great outdoors with views to die for, then don't miss out, I guarantee the next day you know you will have been for a ride, as it is hard not to hurt a little bit after a ride like this, but I bet you have a smile on your face at the same time.
Your worried about only Having 3 riders, Nathan and i put on rides and get 1 Rider, thats a 200% more than us

This ride will be very weather dependent, if its a stinking hot day it will not go ahead, but up to low 30s will be fine.
What can I expect to see out there I here you say, well bring your camera cause like most high country rides some spectacular views, 4wds, other bikes, wildlife, hunters, campers, you name it and we may just see it but the landscape and views will be breath taking.
We get to just about the highest of highs and then back down to the lowest of lows and then we get to do that all day long, rocks, dust, gravel, water you name it and we may just find it.
As far as the ride goes bring your sense of adventure, it will be Level 2 to Clubman. Some big ups and downs, large erosion mounds, rocks and maybe some river crossings so please make sure you have done the carby vent hose modifications before you come.
The ride is a full day ride heading off at 9.30am from the DSE meeting point under Cheynes Bridge and need fuel for around 160klm and lots of fluid for rehydraytion and lunch and snacks on the trail.
Returning to the cars before dark, for a well earn't cool swim in the Mcalaster River. <one of the best parts of the ride>. If you love high country riding then this is the ride to be on just as if you want to take your riding to the next level you may just be interested in giving it a crack but you will need to be a competent Level 2 rider to begin with.
I would also suggest Ultra Heavy duty tubes fitted to your bike and of coarse a reliable bike as we are a long way from home once we are out there, two spare tubes and possibly a spare front sprocket, and chain joining links, liquid metal, can of WD40, tyre pump, tyre leavers, might be a good idea to have in your back pack and of coarse enough tools to pull your bike appart and some spare bolts and nuts, and did I mention enough fuel for 160klms.
Numbers are limited to 20 riders and when you reply please send me your mobile number in case of ride cancellation due to weather and fires etc.
Radios are and option but a great idea for a ride like this, we will have a first aid bum bag, sat phone and epirb on this ride, so as usual our safety is paramount.
This ride will not be the same as the one we have just done, this one will be to the west side of the bridge.
Seriously only put your hand up for the ride if all of the above suits, any questions please call me on 0477690699 Will

Probably a blessing in disguise the ride is cancelled.  There's a bushfire at Aberfeldy and the area has been closed.  Cry

I was very polite when riding with riders on Al's Fumina ride " ASK SHAZ" , i got roosted quite a few times during and got hit in the Head and blood was coming out, but to me, it's all part of riding.
I get roosted all the time by you John, but that's part and parcel of riding in the Dirt.

I remember at your Last Daylesford ride One Fella on a Kaytm 525 roosted me, not knowing that i was behind him  " He didn't even know i was there.
Did i pull him over and Have a go at him !!NO.
"Why" cos thats what happens on dirt trails.
If people are worried about stuff like this , maybe they need to get a road bike and get hit with Bugs n Insect at 100 + Klms/Hr or even worse " A BUS"

Funny how no one on the ACTUAL RIDE said anything on the day, or commented on here that they had been roosted and people were being d1ck heads! but i guess you know better than the people that were there!
Getting hit by rocks is going to happen to you when you ride a dirt bike thats why they invented roost protectors, and eating dust in summer is inevitable and if you don't like either of those things take up knitting!
Of course courtesy need to be shown to beginners but some times they freak out for nothing because they are going so slow and when a bike goes past fast and safely they think that rider is out of control and putting the beginer at risk.
We supported, encouraged and helped the beginners and passed them courteously and safely, just because we ride fast doesn't mean we are d1ck heads and should be banned from Amtra or is this club just for beginners now as with the degradation of the ride grading system i feel thats what it's becoming.

It's ok Pete I new you were there, I only go outa my way to spray thems who spray me first, if someone chooses to get behind the 525 on a hill climb of coarse they are going to be sprayed , just ask Stick leg clarke .
I think on a whole most people in the club do the right thing when passing and then there's some who may not realize they do it, and then there may be the odd penis head but I do not think the more experienced riders are going on the L1 L2 rides just to spray others . I think they are just looking for an easy day on the bike and there's nothing wrong with that.
Remember folks less politics and more riding for 2013 stay safe everyone :-)

As a still fairly new rider, I can absoloutley state that Nathans comments are spot on. As Im getting quicker and more confident myself i understand things alot better, But I remember on some of my first rides, one of the experienced guys would go past me and I would all but come to a stop, Johnny would ask whats wrong, and I'd say, " wow that guy went past me really quick"  with my eyes practically poppping out of my head. He expalined that they werent , it was the normal pace, but as im almost at a  stand still pace it will feel that way - I have learned that over the time and now I get it...getting hit with stones happens...man theyre loud when they hit the helmet..and that can be frightening especially if your not used to it. So basically just trying to give an in experienced riders viewpoint that Nathans spot on there. But I am getting better lads...so look out Smiley I had about 28 experienced riders all around me yesterday on Zebs Tynong ride, and I had absoloute Gentlemen around me. So im a happy L/1...starting to creep into L2 rider Smiley
