Chewton, Castlemaine Ride Saturday 8th September 2012 Level 2 (Apologies for clashing with the Daylesford ride day but this is my last available Saturday for the year.)
Something different. A ride through the open dry eucalypt forest in the historic gold mining area of the Fryers Ranges.
The tracks are often old, stony and winding. It is hilly country but with nothing very steep. A bit different to the last few rides, I will use more windy tracks and lunch will be at the cars allowing time for a refuel. Will probably do around 90ks this time
Take the exit to Castlemaine at Elphinstone. Drive 3 kilometres from the Calder Freeway exit; turn left onto Railway Dam Track just past Tunnel Hill track. It is hard to spot so slow down or you may overshoot it.
Plan to arrive by at least 9 for a 9:30 start. Allow 1 hour travelling time to the start point from the city end of the Tullamarine Tollway. Len Rhodes 0429 185 852

No probs Rudi.....welcome once again. Sorry Peter R but this time I'm not going so far south near Daylesford. There are some great tracks up the north that we've missed out on for the past few years so modifying the ride.
