Title: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Zeb Colic on April 11, 2011, 01,11:33 PM Level one ride blasting level 1 style around Tynong North distance will depend on the group but you all should try and strech the distance to build a little stamina. Aim at 100km in this area if you can so that we all feel like we have been riding for the day.
Pleanty of assistance , steady pace with some slightly tougher stuff thrown in, we have a great selection of semi placid terrain out that way. NEW MEETING SPOT - WE WILL MEET AT THE BP SERVICE CENTRE ON THE PRINCES HWY JUST PAST GUMBAYA (thinks thats how you spell it )PARK AT 7.45AM I WILL LEAVE THE SERVO AT 8.00 SHARP SO DONT BE LATE - ON THE BIKES AND RIDING AT 8.30 .... the back road in has just been graded and is a better less 4WD type enrty to the car park. Appropriate Hill Climbs , Steady Decents , Faster open sections and plenty of Errosion Mounds at our disposal. Lunch at half time at the cars then head out again for those that havent had enough - Hope to see some new faces Call Zeb 0488 400 234 if ya have a concern PS THIS TIME WE ARE ONLY GOING AROUND NASH CREEK LOOP ONCE , TWICE TOPS ;D ;D REMINDER THAT THIS IS A LEVEL 1 RIDE SO THE MORE EXPERIENCED AMTRA MEMBERS MAY BE CALLED UPON TO ASSIST OUR NEW MEMBERS AND FIRST TIMERS - NO FREE RIDES BOYS ;D Zeb 1. Marls 2. Nic123 3. (DR) David 4. Simmo ( First AMTRA ride ) 5. Al Barrett ( Tail Man , First ride on a real bike ;D) 6. Gary Clark 7. Rod ( First AMTRA RIDE ) 8. Oscar ( Mr Clutch Control ) 9. Mark WR250 + 1 (+ 1 having first AMTRA ride ) 28. 30. Tone 31. Rod ( New to AMTRA ) guys sorry to say that this ride is now full , its my desire for everyone to have a good time and with such a large group of newish type riders i think we may be at the point were if we include any more riders forward progress on the trails will be very slow and to generate any type of flow with the ride will be impossible , so if you have missed out i hope you understand that quality of ride must come before quantity of riders , thanks in advance for your understanding and see you on the next one. Check the list of Friday pete and lets see what happens ;D Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Zeb Colic on May 11, 2011, 01,06:17 PM OK Guys and Gals it looks like its gunna keep raining right up to Friday which will put a different complection on this ride . For those that are relativley new it means that its going to be slippery , boggy , wet and heaps of fun for those that dont mind getting dirty. The ride will run regardless of the rain and I will be at the meeting point rain , hail or shine , what i want everyone thats is relativley new to riding to understand is that the water logged ground will slow everything down , it does become more difficult and to a large extent much more physical to cover alot less distance. We have usable tracks regardless of the weather but please consider the above carefully before you decide to rock up. Be prepared to suck it up and soldier on regardless of how cold or tired you are.
For the unitiated the weather can turn a potentially fun ride into a frustrating experience so think about it and let me know prior if you have changed your mind and aint coming. Dont feel pressured to come just becasue you have asked to be put on the list its not an issue their will be plenty of more rides in the near future AMTRA aint gunna dissapear 8) Its a good idea for everyone that chooses to come to bring at least a water proof jacket to keep the water and cold out during the day , spare gloves if you have them , and a clean rag possible a small chamois to carry in your bum bag to wipe your goggles . We are not trying to scare anyone we just dont want to surprise / shock anyone either and turn them of riding forever ;D. If okay I will still be turning up at the meeting point anyway as planned and will take your advice on the day, in relation to my bikes capability to be able to make the ride or not based on your experience of the trail conditions given the weather. Cheers Ray Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: ratter on May 13, 2011, 02,11:23 AM Count me in still, but a bit nervous re the conditions, I'm sure the nerves will disappear (hopefully)once we get moving
Being level 1, I was expecting an easy ride conditions, does the weather conditions change the ride conditions to a harder level? I went out and bought a new jacket yesterday to try to keep a little dier, Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Alistar B on May 13, 2011, 03,06:32 AM Count me in still, but a bit nervous re the conditions, I'm sure the nerves will disappear (hopefully)once we get moving Yes the wet can make the ride harder by a level or two mainly on the hills depending what the terrain is like. Anyway with Zeb leading the ride no need to worry as everyone will be in good hands.Being level 1, I was expecting an easy ride conditions, does the weather conditions change the ride conditions to a harder level? Cheers Ray Ray i have to be honest and say that unless you have knobbies it will be extremley difficult around bunyip , regardless of which direction we go we will at some stage encounter either an incline or a decent with trail tyres you dont stand a chance , Hate to say it but taking the weather into account it's probably better if you wait until the next ride ... Its not that we dont want you their its your safety that concerns me ... Example if you are going up and have no traction you will probably just wheel spin and stop , if you are going down and have no traction you will be a 200 kg mass out of control , unable to stop and at the mercy of what every you hit , 9 times out of 10 you will fall into the mud and all is hunky doree its the 10% chance that could keep of the bike and in hospital for a long time its just not worth the risk - hope you undersatand. Looks like my wife is coming down with a cold, so a ride in the wet might not be the best thing for her at the moment. I think she is a little disappointed about it :( However, at this stage, I'm still planning on getting out there. Making sure I pack my snorkel and fins. Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Ray :) on May 13, 2011, 07,10:27 AM Hi Zeb :), Thanks for your advice and support its much appreciated.
As such taking into account your comments, I will not be attending tomorows ride. I look forward to the next planned Level 1 ride, however hopefully I will have some nobbies fitted by then and I won't be riding it on the road (Might have a road bike additionally)! Hopefully the next ride won't be far off. I Hope everybody has a gr8 time out there tomorow. Cheers and thanks again for your support; Ray :) Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Zeb Colic on May 13, 2011, 07,55:03 AM Hi Zeb :), Thanks for your advice and support its much appreciated. I would like to thank the members on Amtra for welcoming me along and their friendliness today. I would like to thank my "riding buddy" Paul for staying with me all day, hope I did not get in your way too much from having fun. I apologize for leaving at lunch, but had prior commitments. I think the buddy system was great on a ride based on riders with lower skill levels. I had a ball today, thank you all very much Cheers Mick Title: Re: Level 1 Ride around Tynong North ( Bunyip ) Post by: Zeb Colic on May 14, 2011, 10,04:05 AM I would like to thank Zeb for putting on this ride, although I nearly chickened out because of the weather and not sure about my riding skill.
