Sat 5th September.

Boolarra, Sth Gippsland.

See www.redlightride.com for details.

Similar to blue light, but this is to raise funds for Boolarra CFA so they can build a new fire station.

Mat, who's running the ride?

I hear the ride is a 30km loop.

There is one loop that is 30km, I am not sure if they are working on more than that.  In the afternoon they reverse it.  You can do as many loops as you can fit in the time allowed.

At the end of the day, camp by the pub and have a few beers.

I am going more for the cause than the ride.

May have to look into setting a ride on the Sunday somewhere nearby. Or go skiing.

If you ask for a receipt from Boolara CFA then you can claim on tax, I think, $130 out of the $150.

If you have an MA licence then it is $130.

As far as I can tell, there is a trail ride group (not a club) trying to run the ride and using the resources of the Boolarra CFA.

It could be a good event, or it could be a shambles. But for those interested in going, post up and maybe we can ride as an AMTRA group and offer our support if they need it.

I checked this out a couple of days ago. Although it is for a good cause, with 100+ bikes I think the 30k loop could get a tad crowded....

Yes, you are probably right there, I believe it is looking at 250 bikes and that is one bike every 100m around the whole loop.  But it is for a good cause so it may be that packing some patience and courtesy in the bum bag would be a good thing to do.

Either way, I will give a report on it.

The Red Light Ride is still open to entries, at present they have around 100 riders paid.  To enter now email your registration to mail@redlightride.com and pay (cash only) on the day.

They have a rider limit on their DSE permit, less than they wanted but have not disclosed what it is.

There are also opportunities to help with the running of the ride as volunteers.  If interested then call me on 0409 520 642.

The loop is 30 km, with an estimated quick trail pace time of 1 hour to 1 hour 15 min, without stopping.  Sounds like a challenge to me to get under 1 hour with traffic.

Would really like to see some AMTRA riders supporting the event.  I'll be there, so will Phil H on the Gas Gas.

For more details on the ride see www.redlightride.com

Regards
