Title: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on June 17, 2013, 10,21:18 PM The much anticipated entry forms for the much anticipated Harrow Vinduro, have been released! Open to all pre-'85 bikes, the Harrow International is the 'must do' event of the Vinduro calendar. Interest is high, so get in quick if you want to be part of this great event. Wade, Michael (his son) and myself will be making up Team AMTRA. 3 more people can make up Team AMTRA 2. The sooner you get you entry in, the more likely we'll be to starting together. See ya there! Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Peter r on June 18, 2013, 09,51:11 AM Just downloaded the Entry form.
Should i put down Team AMTRA 2 ?? Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on June 18, 2013, 10,05:39 AM Yeah, do that. We can work out the final details later. Hopefully, we'll have a couple more takers! Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: flipper on June 18, 2013, 12,31:29 PM I've sent an email to the organisers to see if I'm allowed to compete on the TT600.
Even though it is configured as a 1983 model, the compliance plate says 1988, so I'll understand it if they want to keep it 'pure'. And of course, I'll also need to have it up and running again before then... :D Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Wade E on June 19, 2013, 10,48:29 AM Yep this is the big one for vinduro riders for the year and promises to be bigger and brighter than previous years with addition of state verses state trophy teams all competing for the honour of most laps completed and bragging rites for the next 12 months, all in fun of coarse.
The town of Harrow welcomes vinduro riders and boasts a pub, café, camping ground and most important of all awesome riding. So if you have a pre 85 dirt bike come and have a go! I've been given the okay to run it if I put the drum brake front end on it. Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on June 20, 2013, 09,23:41 PM That sounds alright, if you're prepared to do it. Some of these rules are a little 'over-the-top'! It's not as though there's massive prize money up for grabs and you have an un-fair advantage. But rules are rules and they're set to keep the feeling 'real', so up to you. But I wouldn't miss it for quids! I've been given the okay to run it if I put the drum brake front end on it. Disconnect the front brake then, be just as effective as the drum brake. Do you still have the drum brake setup? If an 84 IT front wheel and drum brake fits I can lend you one. Just need to find a bit of time to give it a refresh, and then it can be fitted in place of the disc brake front end. I don't remember the TLS drums being too bad myself - guess I'll find out soon :D Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Dirtpilot72 on June 21, 2013, 10,51:09 AM Don't worry about it. Just turn up with the disck brake front end. What they told you was crap. As long as it was possible to fit a disk brake front end to your bike back in 1984 then it should be fine.
Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Dirtpilot72 on June 21, 2013, 10,56:58 AM 84 Yamaha XT600 had disc brake front on it? At harrow i bet you will see some IT 200/250/490's with a disk brake front end fitted. Probably there will be some 85/85 IT 200's as well.
Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: flipper on June 21, 2013, 12,10:39 PM Honestly, I'm okay with running the drum front end :)
It won't take much work to fit, and apart from needing a set of fork seals, it looks to be in pretty good nick. I'm more concerned about getting the rebore done - just waiting on the new piston to arrive... Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Tony H on June 21, 2013, 12,39:02 PM Just sent of my entry. I had a ball at Tallarook and cannot wait to take my IT out on some decent length loops.
See you there. regards Tony Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on June 21, 2013, 11,05:43 PM Good stuff Tony. Provided Pete makes it, it looks like we'll have a second Team of You, Flipper and P-air. Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: flipper on June 22, 2013, 12,00:13 PM Fingers crossed the piston will turn up in the next couple of days - I can then safely put my entry in.
I started tidying up the drum brake front end today. It is mostly in pretty good shape, but I'll need to chase up a new brake cable, as the old one is kinked and jams up. Shoes and drum look fine. Fork seals have been ordered in. Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on June 28, 2013, 10,57:49 PM I just checked this morning and Team AMTRA (1) is on the start list. Interestingly enough, I've pulled the same number (and start position) as last year! How many sleeps to go? Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: flipper on July 03, 2013, 10,45:25 AM Better count me out of this one - things aren't going as well as I'd hoped with getting the TT ready. :(
Guess I'll have to wait for Statford on September 8th Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on July 03, 2013, 11,02:10 AM That's a pity. We'll try and have fun without you! Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Tony H on July 04, 2013, 11,21:11 AM Harrow entries updated yesterday. 162 entrants so far and I have my number ;D

Pete has sent off his entry now, so that makes two for a second team. Even if we don't fil a second team, we'll meet up on the first loop and ride together anyway. Title: Re: Harrow Vinduro 27th & 28th July Post by: Serge C on July 04, 2013, 11,31:19 AM Ignore me! It's 130, I just checked. I took the "man's" way through this section, while the other two hoiked up their skirts and went around. Considering how deep my rear wheel got bogged, perhaps I should have avoided it too! |
