Where I want to be...

« on: August 10, 2009, 08,57:54 AM »

Yes another year has slipped by Cup weekend at Abbeyard. Four days family camping at the property.

NO MINI BIKES WITHOUT A PERMIT

See this for club rules on mini bikes at the club property http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/hat-you-need-to-know/ini-bike-rules-and-code-of-conduct-for-abbeyard-t1572/?action=dlattach;attach=606

The emphasis of the weekend is family camping not riding mini bikes Wink

Various rides are happening, probably 4X4 touring by others.

Well I am going to try to make it this year, though probably only the Fri-Sun as the boys have a cup day event at their school on the Monday.

I did some laps around the mini bike loop at the other side of the block on the weekend. condition is better than i thought.
Not for the beginner but, I would do a walk around and trim a few branches and maybe fill in the gran canyon in the back corner but with maybe an hours work it would be back in great condition for a kids.
Id class it as clubman single track with no trees to get over at the present time  Cool

see you up there cup weekend

It really depends on the skill of the rider, if they are just learners and more or less idling around they can get around on the vehicle tracks, the new learners don’t go for hours on end and annoy.
For the advanced Mini bike riders the loop on the other side of Cobbler is the go, the loop needs to be gone around and checked and cleaned a bit.
For the intermediate ones there is not much there at the moment. A bit of thought needs to go into catering for them.

If little Johny is a crusty deamon or alternatively you want to get rid of him for the rest of the day / weekend send him to the mini bike track.

I'm tipping when you want him you will find him at the bottom of "Grand Ganyon" Dave mentioned.

So maybe instead of bringing my bike I should load the trailer  with some gardening tools and maybe an escavator and it sounds like a stick of dynamite may not go astray . Anyway enough of the jokes maybe the members who are planing on coming along with there kids and kids bikes should attend the working bee and help get it into shape ?If dates work with the home office in could be in for that. That is what it takes to keep any track open, a little bit of work.

This weekend is one where there are no set rides, people get together and ride when and where they want as a group.

Saying that, these are my thoughts. Sunday I plan to take the family down into Wonangatta in the 4X4. BBQ lunch, more or less do the Sunday 08 HCR loop.

Monday is the big ride day, planning to meet up with the four day ride at the corner of the Alpine rd and the Dargo High Plains Rd, or near there. Ride the rest of the day with the group, lunch at Dargo and then onto Abbeyard. Expect a pre 7am start and about 250km!

That was a very quick change from "I don't intend to do any 4wding in it!"

Wonangatta from Abbeyard isn't four wheel driving! The only thing you need to do it is ground clearance.
I recon I could have gone there in the HT but the family probably wouldn't have come.
If just I was going to Wonangatta I'd be on the bike, I'm taking the all the Dykes. Think of it as a bus trip.
Yes a 4X4 full of Dykes is going into Wonangatta Cup Weekend Shocked

Zeka Creek, that was four wheel drive Sad

Yes

My daughters bikes have Rec Reg on them because it's cheaper than the TAC permit equivalent.
