Hi all,

i recently moved from Germany to Melbourne and finally got me a bike yesterday.
It is a 2007 DRZ400E in good condition with 4500 Ks on the clock. Unfortunately it came with an awful Venom aftermarket exhaust. It is way too loud for longer trips, has no spark arrester and I doubt that it has any advantages power wise as long as the carburetor is not rejetted. All other DRZs i drove so far were smoother on the throttle in low revs and I think the bike has a few flat spots through the rev range on full throttle, although not too bad.

Long story short: Does anybody have a stock DRZ400E muffler laying around that isn't needed anymore. Would be good if it is somewhere in the Melbourne Area as I live in Altona now.

Looking forward to meet likeminded folks! Is it OK for not-yet-members to attend the monthly club meetings?

Cheers
Chris

G'Day Chris and welcome to Oz, the country with the best easy to get to trail riding in the World, and the best club to take you.

You are most welcome to attend the monthly meetings and get to try 3 rides before the need to join.

I can't help you with the muffler but hopefully somebody in the club can or give you some ideas about where to look on the net.

As it happens I have a full stock DRZ400E exhaust system you can try that I no longer need. And I live 10 mins from Altona.

Thank you all. I am looking forward to the meeting on the 29th! Already put a reminder in my calendar!

@Mat: That sounds very good. I will give you a call when I am home from work around 5pm.

Thanks to Mat the DRZ came down to an acceptable noise level. Before going on the first ride, hopefully on Australia Day Weekend, i have to solve some minor problems.

Since the bike stood in a shed for the last 2-3 years, the metal part in the fuel cap corroded. The rust clogged the filters on the fuel petcock completely. To a degree that they aren't cleanable anymore.
Now I need a new cap and petcock. I contacted a few dealers but would be happy if I can find used parts in the Melbourne area.

If I cannot get the parts this week, the backup plan would be to buy an in-line-fuel filter and put it between petcock and carburetor.
Can somebody tell me, where I can find a shop that sells automotive parts like the fuel filter and fuel lines?

Thanks a lot,
Chris

Any bike shop will have fuel line and in-line filters.

Not sure where you're located, but Mick Hone in Mont Albert will have all the goodies you need.

Try Just Dirt Bikes in Altona Nth, off Millers Rd at Borrack Sqare shops (Library and a pub at the lights). That is the traffic lights between Mason St and Blackshaws Rd as you head up Millers Rd from Altona to the Fwy. Open till 6 p.m. Mon-Fri.

Fuel in Oz is pretty good, an inline filter would be fine.

As an Australia day weekend alternative you could go down to Phillip Island and catch the Aus Historic Racing as well as some of the Island sights.

Give me a call about riding on Sunday. That's a maybe for me.
