Title: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: blakea24 on September 04, 2008, 02,17:33 AM Hi guys
I am just starting to get into dirt bike riding. I have had a few people tell me to start on a ttr250. I am in the process of buying one. I will be joining AMTRA as soon as i buy a bike and am wanting to go on some rides. If anybody knows of one for sale please let me know. I am looking at spending around 3500-4000, and am located in NE melbourne. Thanks for any help. The XR4 is way more capable, but is it learner legal ?? Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: David Smith on September 04, 2008, 10,17:49 AM Ive got a friend with a xr250 for sale if your interested.
about the same price i think Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: Ian Robinson on September 04, 2008, 10,32:15 AM I think the ttr is a good bike to learn on. Not too much power, easy to maintain, is nice to ride and does not do anything to scare a learner, has an electric start and is lighter, or feels lighter than an xr400. An XR250 would be good as well but no electric start.
Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: blakea24 on September 04, 2008, 11,30:44 AM thanks for everyones help so far. I really want a ttr250, from what i have heard they are a good learner bike, and bullet proof reliability wise. I have always been a fan of the blue side. I dont really want to start on a 400, but thanks for the offer.
Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: Serge C on September 04, 2008, 09,22:37 PM The TTR is a great beginers bike, and you should be very happy with it. Similarly, the XR 250 and DR 250 are all much the same (just different colors!) The DR has the advantage of a button! If you are interested in looking at a DR 250, I know where ther is a ripper, and it's well in your price range. I know it's not blue, but nothing a can of spray paint won't fix! PM me for more details if your interested! If your going to go to all that trouble to paint it, why not paint it red? :)Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: blakea24 on September 04, 2008, 09,52:21 PM Thanks Serge C a PM has been sent.
Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: Phil Randall on September 05, 2008, 06,17:15 AM Blakea24, Stick to your guns, the TT and the 250 cc are a great combination to get started.
Sunday 14th of September is my Level 1-2 ride at Marysville. It is the ideal starting place, and caters for persons with your skills. Details are in the ride calendar, or call me on 0408 370 764. I just really cant see myself having a bike by then....unfortunatly. I have spoken to a couple of people yesterday, and I want to stick to a ttr, so I may just have to wait a bit longer until a few become available for sale. How often do you do a level 1-2 ride. I will be very interesed in coming as soon as I get a bike.
Thanks Title: Re: WANTED - 2000-2002 ttr 250 Post by: Mat R on September 07, 2008, 11,38:46 PM Phil's Marysville ride is on the second Sunday of each month. I also run a level 1/2 ride at Cobaw (1 hour NW of Melb) on a slightly less regular basis but aim for the last Saturday of the month.
For info, I rode a DR-Z 250 yesterday at Cobaw and thought it was quite a capable trail bike. The TTR is also a good pick (and a great colour). Both have a ready supply of after market bits to make them great trail bikes. Regards Mat R.
