Title: Yamaha WR450F (sold)
Post by: flipper on July 17, 2011, 11,43:47 PM
Yamaha WR450F - 2004 model.

I purchased this bike as a rolling chassis and many boxes of parts in May last year. The previous owner had started work on it as a complete make-over project and then decided to get a new bike instead.

This bike is literally brand new, and looks, sounds and rides like it too. It has done less than 1500km since it was first fired up last July. Oil is changed regularly, and the air filter cleaned after each ride.

Many of the inherent standard WR faults have been addressed during the rebuild:

- Carby drain hoses tee-d and re-routed to ensure proper breathing.
- Crankcase breather hose has been re-routed to the airbox to ensure creek crossings aren’t an issue.
- Oil filter drain bolt hole has been modified to stop potential thread damage
- Larger capacity radiators installed to assist with cooling in slower riding conditions
- Chain guide/rub block added to stop potential subframe wear

The list of new and upgraded parts for this bike is extensive, but I will highlight a few:

- Late model styled guards and headlight
- Renthal top triple clamp to suit tapered bars
- Tag T2 Taper bars
- Devol radiator guards
- Powerbomb header pipe
- Late model muffler
- Wiseco forged piston kit (std bore, std comp)
- YZ450 carby from a 2006 model
- Near new Bridgestone M403/M404 tyres
- Motobatt dry cell battery

The bike comes with 12 months Victorian Rec Rego. There is nothing to spend on this bike – it is ready to ride.

I have purchased a new project and need to make some room in the shed...hence the reason for sale.

Price is $4000

PM me if you want more info, or to tee up a test ride - bike is located in the Yarra Valley near Healesville

Did nothing special - just washed the bike with CT18 after each ride before the mud had a chance to dry and stain things.

At least the insurance will help, but I still hate the thought that some mongrel is probably stripping down the bike and undoing all that hard work that I put into building it up! >:(

What are you planning to get as a replacement?

That unscrupulous, thieving ^%$#@ that stole your bike should be hung drawn and quartered.
However the extremely lucky and astute buyer who found a cheap motor on the web should be praised for his success.  And it was extremely fortunate that it was insured, now we can all pay for the privilege of supporting those whom we despise.
   Food for thought !!,
   Phil R.
   P.S.  I too ! had a bike stolen.
